Amplitude: A Visual Novel – Romance Guide

Guides to the character routes. Not having enough oomph to woo your desired bae? Take a glimpse to the heart’s secret here.

Introduction

All credit goes to Eastral!

These hints are kept-spoiler free and decision will only be noted IF other decision choices could trigger a dead-end flag. As long as the dead-end flags aren’t triggered, scenes will progress on its own provided that the relationship point is sufficient. Raising relationship points can be done by giving birthday gifts (gift noted below, birthday dates available on the relationship status screen), giving items (noted below whenever applicable), and hanging out with that person. What decision will raise or lower relationship point should be clear if you watch attention to the character :3 (but yes, there will be hints.)

Do note that once you successfully completed any one character’s romance path, you cannot complete any other character’s romance path. This, unlike Freak-Quency, is a monogamous game* xD Included at the end of this guide is the status reference key for you to check which range of points correspond to certain status title (e.g Well-read means 81-120 knowledge points).

*Exception for Michelle and Eric. You can still romance other people after finishing theirs.

Katy’s Route (#KR)

Jon (#JON)

This is a very easy route. Jon can be found if you take a part time job at the Korean Restaurant. The events are straightforward and there is no dead-end trigger in this route. You just need 80 charm to ask him out, and confess to him at the end.

Ari (#ARI)

Ari, being Katy’s best friend, is also an easy route. He can be found at the school rooftop at noon for progression events, and at night at the corporate district for patrols (raise relationship points).

Birthday Gift: Wind Chime

Item: Bal Sem (can be bought at the vending machine at school entrance)

Triggers to watch for:

  • When Michelle and Ari ask you to hang out, accept their invitation and choose “I’m leaving.” and “I think it’s nice.”
  • If you missed the event above, choose “You didn’t have to do that.” after Katy and Ari have the scene with Luna at the cafe.
(Doing any of the above will be sufficient to enter the romance route. Failing will put you on friendship route.)
  • At the last event. respond with “Let’s be lame together.”

Simon and Bunny (#SIM)

You read that right. In order to romance Simon, you have to also do Bunny’s quests. Their events unlock each other, so just talk to both of them everytime. Simon and Bunny can be found at the City Central day and night.

Triggers to watch for:

  • When going to the bar with Bunny, choose “Girl stuff.” or “Why should we tell you?”
  • After the quest ‘Chilli Ballad’, you need 120 bravery, otherwise the events will automatically progress to a non-romance outcome.
  • At the end of the bar scuffle, choose “Watch ducks for our first date?”

??? (#SCR)

This is the trickiest character to romance, with several status checks and require plannings to get the timings right. You can start meeting him by practicing with the Soul at night (click on your crafting bench) and, after the first event initiates, choose to jump over.

Now, you can meet him almost any night by clicking on your crafting bench. However, PROCEED CAREFULLY. It’s very easy to lock yourself out of this path.

Triggers to watch for:

  • Have at least 40 charm before meeting him the second time. The second meeting must be done before the 25th of April.
  • Choose to “examine wound” at the end of the second meeting.
  • Finish the FQ Origins quest before April 27th. The person requesting is only available on Tuesday and Thursday, so if you take too long you simply cannot report it in time to attend the signings.
  • Attend the book signings at the Comic Market on April 25-30th. You only have to do this once.
  • Have at least 120 knowledge before the third meeting. If you can’t get enough knowledge point, you can still continue.
  • Initiate the third meeting. If your knowledge < 120, the answer is “42”. Failing this will still give you chance to retry on the other nights, but getting it right ASAP is recommended due to time constraints for future events.
  • Meet him three more times
  • After the river and acid rain incident, meet him one more time. Tell him you trust him.

You still need 160 knowledge for the best ending.

It is recommended to work at the hairdresser and/or the nursing home because you have to get Charm and Knowledge high enough while having enough money to buy 10 cakes and materials for a scarf (the FQ Origins quest) early.

Jon’s Route (#JR)

Michelle (#MIC)

This is very straightforward. Michelle can be found at the shopping district. She will ask you for help the first time around. Finish this quest (‘Cam, the Cafe Owner’) and she will be available to date. There is no fail trigger on her route.

Katy (#KAT)

Also quite easy. There are several dead-end triggers here but all can be avoided by making sure you always have at least 1000 omegas and a cake in your inventory. Meet her by working at the Korean Restaurant at night. However, meeting her Bravery requirement could be a challenge to some.

Triggers to watch for:

  • You need at least 120 bravery before the second event.
  • You need at least 160 bravery before the last event. Choose “Screw my reputation.”

Liz (#LIZ)

Available first at the Downtown and then at the City Central. Her route progression is based on a tring of quests she sends you (‘Brat to a Man’, ‘Poison’) and she will always remind you. As long as you are considerate to her sister, it won’t be difficult to make decisions to appease her.

Triggers to watch for:

  • On house visit, choose “You’ll be lonely without me.” or “Nothing.”
  • Conversation about Grace, choose “Grace is a Malkavia.” and “Do as Jon says.”

Luna (#LUN)

Birthday Gift: Cushion

Item: Cakes

She can be found at school. Her route is also straightforward AND profitable xD

Triggers to watch for:

  • Gossiping girls event, choose “I don’t know.” and “Do as Jon says.”
  • Bedside conversation, choose “They are.”

Any of these two would enter you into the romance route. Failing to do so would put you on friendship route.

Grace (#GRA)

Now we’re getting to the complicated routes. Grace is available after accepting the quest to interview her. She will be at central park or the corporate district. Between her second and third event, meet her at the afternoon (City Central) for ‘hang-outs’. Between the third and fourth event, ask her for ‘hang-outs’ at night (Corporate District).

Triggers to watch for:

  • About change, choose “It can’t be helped.” or “There must be a reason.”
  • Hang out with her before April 30th until she offers to make a date.
  • At the night of the 30th, do not forget to go to the cinema. You can miss this event if you accidentally trigger another day-long event. Save before you do anything on the 30th.
  • When talking to Soul, choose “May I stay with her forever?” or choose “I think I like you a little too much.” at the conversation with Grace to enter her romance route.
  • Do all of the above before the acid rain incident.
  • Choose to visit Grace after the acid rain incident.

Eric (#ERI)

Birthday Gift: PCB

Available at school. Decision in Eric’s route is not so intuitive at times, so think before you make one. Look beyond his easygoing facade. I have noted the ones with dead-end triggers below.

Triggers to watch for:

  • Soul’s question about Jon and Eric, choose “It’s impossible.” or “I can’t.”
  • Talks with Eric, choose “You don’t have to lie to me.” then “I’m your husband.” then “I love him.”
