Normal Mode

Here are my notes on how to get past the fights in normal mode.

Scene 14

Let the arrows whistle a bit before slashing, or just keep repeatedly slashing in that direction when you hear it coming. For the first fight after that, the creature makes two different growly noises, so pay close attention to when he’s doing the attack noise vs. the just-watching noise. For the last fight, strike when he stomps.

Scene 16

The first fight is normal. Don’t worry about the man who falls into something on your left until you’re done fighting the others. Then he’ll get back up, make one noise you just ignore, then strike on the second noise. For the second fight, he makes three sounds that mean attack. When he does the long scream, let him drag it out a bit, then strike. For the other two, wait until he basically finishes the noise, then immediately strike.

Scene 17

The pig creature is a normal fight. For the witch, you can easily tell where she is by the sound when she teleports, and then strike the moment you hear her draw in a breath. Then strike when she says, “You must die!” (I think you can just keep stabbing there and not worry about timing too much).

Scene 19

The sounds of the men are quiet, so pay close attention, and strike almost immediately when you hear them. Strike the girl as soon as you hear a noise.

Scene 22

For the first guy, wait for his scream to drag out a bit before you strike. Second guy, wait just a moment when you hear his sound. Third guy says, “Heeeeeey ya!” Strike at the start of “ya.” Fourth guy says, “Oooooh ya.” Strike kind of at the end of, “Oooh.” Then stab a bunch when you hear breathing to finish him off.

Scene 26

One guy drags out his scream, strike him after it drags up a bit, just before it changes to “ya.” For the “ooooh ya” guy, strike kinda between or at the start of “ya.” For the “rggggh” guy, strike after the sound drags just a bit. For the second fight, the guy says “hey ya,” strike when he is about to or starts to say “ya.”

Scene 27

Normal fight. Strike a moment after you hear him make noise (almost immediately).

Hard Mode

Here are my notes for getting past fights in hardcore mode.

Scene 14

For the arrows, just slash repeatedly in the correct direction when you hear an arrow coming. For the first fight, just fight normally. One creature growls, just be aware of which growl is an attack growl, and which is just his watching growl. Strike when he’s growling. For the other creature, it will swoop 2-3 times, then growl or make noise. Just be ready for noise after swooping. For the second fight, use the shield block. Wait a moment after the swing to hit the button. When he’s on the left, I specifically had to let go of buttons after shield block and then stab, or wait a moment to stab, or something weird like that.

Scene 15

Strike when the wolves make the growly noise that goes down in pitch (They make two noises, and the attack one was the one I didn’t think it would be.).

Scene 16

The first fight was easiest for me to do without shield blocking. (See notes on timing above.) For the second, use the shield block.

Scene 17

The pig creature makes a two-part noise. Strike on the first part. For the demon/witch, once she teleports, she just breathes for a moment. Don’t strike on the breathing, wait until she just starts to scream. And when she says, “You must die!” just keep stabbing.

Scene 19

This was easiest for me without shield block. See above for timing.

Scene 22

Use shield block as soon as you hear swinging or a bit sooner for some of them. Just listen to each to hear how soon their strike comes after the swinging noise.

Scene 26

In the first fight, use shield block at the end of their shouts, just before the swing sound. Also use shield block for second fight (just listen for timing).

Scene 27

Normal fight. See above for timing.
