Quick guide to how online play works in Draft Day Sports: Pro Football 2018 (DDSPF18).
How Does Online Play Work?
Online leagues work in the following way.
Players in the league upload changes to their team to a league server (see below how easy it is). When the league runs a sim (i.e. progresses a step in the league year), the commisioner imports all the changes to the teams, so his file has all the updates from the owners, then sims and publishes a new file.
Most online leagues have fixed sim schedules (e.g. Monday, Wedsnesday, Friday at 6 PM eastern) so owners know when deadlines for their exports are). But you can of course sim more often or slower. Similarly most leagues sim just one 'week' at a time, but some leagues do fast sims, where they do 3 or 6 weeks.
Loading Online League
When you manage a team in an online league, the first step is to download the latest leaguefile.
The first time you download the leaguefile, you need select Load-> online league and put in the URL of the file.
After that first time it will save the URL in the local game list, so you can just select it from the dropdown.
Notice, to get the newest file, you must select the URL, and not the league name file. The league name fil (WWPF in this case) is the latest local save you have on your harddisk, but if the league has progressed since this file will be out of date.
Logging in to Your Team and Exporting
Once you have downloaded the leaguefile, you need to log in to your team.
Navigate to your team (easiest by clicking logos at the top) and click log in - enter the pin you have been given for the team by the league commissioner.
Once you are logged in, you make all the changes to your team that you want to do for the next sim.
Then you hit the export button and the game uploads your changes to the league server, so they can be imported by the commisioner for the next sim.
