Making money is kinda hard in this game and that’s where this guide comes in.

Early Game

The early part of the game goes from the beginning until you upgrade the church for the bishop’s quest.

First, set up the church. It gives you money each week, which helps at the start.

Use the prayer the bishop gives you. Focus on upgrading the church inside and outside. Get the benches. The inside upgrade helps with prayer success. The outside upgrade affects how much money you make from sermons.

Do the sermon every week. Don’t skip it. Use the rest of the week for quests and research. It’s a good idea to open the underground passages to save time.

Burial certificates are another way to make money early on. They also help upgrade the church outside. Try to remove as many red skulls as you can. It’s safest to remove blood and fat.

After dealing with the body, try to fill all the white skulls on the grave. This increases your weekly income over time.

Don’t throw things away. Many items are useful for crafting later in the game, including blood.

Mid Game

This part starts after upgrading the church and ends before you need aristocrat papers.

Energy becomes a big issue now. Making wine is a good solution. You’ll need a vineyard and grapes. Get grape seeds from the merchant. Do the inquisitor’s quest for the vineyard. You also need a press and wine barrels.

A good setup is 16 grape plants with silver quality fertilizer. Put one press and two barrels in the basement. Don’t forget to fertilize the grapes. Harvest them weekly, like on Sundays after church. This should give you about 60 grapes each time, making 40 wines per week. This should be enough for energy. It also gives you health.

For money, upgrade to the “prayer for donations”. Bronze quality is okay, but better quality is good if you can make it.

It’s better to burn most bodies now. You need the ash for fertilizer, and it uses less energy than making graves. You still get the same money.

Keep working on the merchant quests. You’ll need the trade office later in the game.

Late Game

Getting 12 gold for aristocrat papers is tough. Here are the best ways to make money, from most to least effective:

Trade Office:

• Aim for 1 gold and 10 silver per week.
• Grow gold quality crops (pumpkins work well).
• Use 15 farm patches with both types of fertilizer.
• Harvest crops as soon as they’re ready (every 2-3 days).
• Use speed potions to move crops faster.
• Deliver 5 boxes at the start and end of the merchant’s day.

Sermons:

• Use a gold quality prayer.
• Have about 250 skulls outside the church.
• Consider getting the combo prayer for extra faith.

Witch Burnings:

• Grow 4 gold hops plants and 2 gold onion plants.
• Make 5 burgers and 10 beer for each burning.
• This takes extra work but gives a good bonus.

Selling:

• Sell silver from the quarry or gold quality wine.
• This takes time away from farming, so it’s not the best option.

Tips:

• Don’t buy things you can gather yourself.
• Keep burning bodies for fertilizer.
• Plant some carrots for burgers.
• Use 2-4 compost heaps for peat.
