Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – How to Customize Operators

Customizing Operators

Gone are the Specialists of Black Ops 4 and in their place are customizable Operators. Unlike Specialists, Operators are cosmetic-only characters that don’t feature any non-cosmetic features to set them apart from one another.

If you choose the Otter, or Wyatt, or some other Operator, you won’t notice a difference in the way they’ll play. You will however notice differences in their appearances.

Every Operator in the game — there are 20 in the game if you count the two default Operators — can be customized, save for the Default character.

To customize an Operator in Modern Warfare, first head to the Multiplayer menu. From here, use the bumpers on Xbox One or L1 and R1 to tab over to the Operator tab. Once here, select the Faction with the Operator yo’d like to customize — there are only two Factions in the game at launch: the Coalition and the Allegiance.

After you select the Faction, you’ll be brought to a screen with 10 Operators. If you haven’t played much of the game yet, most of them will be locked.

Select an Operator that isn’t locked and press Triangle on PS4 or Y on Xbox One. This will bring you to the customization screen where you’ll see a number of outfits or appearances you’ve earned or collected for this specific Operator.

Select the outfit you want and you’re all set.
