I see these units are still very powerful. How to kill these without them destroying your entire army in a turn or two?

Use any melee unit!
They can’t use anything if there’re inside a control area.
Of course they still can get out out of it because the fighting balance is sill a work to begin, but at least they won’t be able to use their OP AoE
Or you can kill every fealty unit in the army, making them no more dangerous than any T3 unit.
They are strong, but very weak for a T5 unit. Align dragons against them and just melt whatever you encounter
