Some tips for new players on what to do and what not to do during PvP games.

Tips

Get good defensive positions

• Don’t expose yourself to extra damage from spikes, flowers, larvas, etc… after being shot.
• Landing just near a wall often is a good position.
• Landing on a wall angle often is the best defensive position.

Block potions spawning

• Don’t let your opponent get his abilities.
• The simplest way to do it is to place your beast on a potion spawning point. You can also use abilities (traps, scarabs, stones, nest, flowers) to block a spawning point, or a NPC, or even your opponent’s own beast and abilities.

Don’t open boxes/chests that you can’t loot on the same turn

• Avoid giving free potions to your opponent.

Dealing damage is not always the best choice

• Unlocking a beast ability by simply taking a fury potion may be more beneficial in the long run.
• If you hit hard your opponent but it gives you very bad position (so on the next turn your opponent can hit you the same or even harder) you gained nothing. In that case it may be a better choice to aim at a fury potion, or get some healing, or even just getting a good defensive position.
• Classic example of this : don’t throw your opponent into the spikes just because you can. First consider what could be his next move.

Control your speed

• A shot at high speed is definitively not always the best move. It leads to unforeseen consequences that will often be bad for you (backshots, opponent taking potions or hitting key NPC, etc).
• Try to be precise instead. Control your landing position.

Anticipate Grim Finale

• Watchout for turns countdown.
• Watchout for Guiding Egg’s HP.
• Try to get a good defensive/aggressive position before it starts : it’s not just about not taking damage, it’s also about using the Grim Finale at your advantage to deal extra damage.

Watch out for NPC’s Health

• Dont get that explosion from Fuzzball. / Throw your opponent into Fuzzball at the right time.
• Don’t kill Brew if you can’t loot his potion.
• Deal damage to Guiding Egg on purpose to reduce your opponent’s safe area.
• Don’t kill a NPC while trying to use it to shot your opponent.

Watch out for NPC’s Attack

• Most NPCs have extra attack from the start, and it can increase surprisingly fast.
• Consider this when you’re looking for the best defensive position.
• On the other hand, don’t miss the opportunity to do more damage with an NPC shot than a direct shot.

Know your abilities

• Though this may be obvious, my point is most of them have a lot of different direct effects and side effects. They can be use in various ways.
• Use yours and your opponents ones at your advantage.
• It will take time to learn all possibilities. FurryFury is a game much more complex than it seems at first. That’s precisely why we love it.

Watch and learn from better players

• This of course applies to every game and every player, even the best ones. It’s always good to be remembered though.
