How to Back Up Your Previous Non-Steam Save

Disclaimer

Although the game shouldn’t delete your previous save, this guide should be done BEFORE downloading the game off steam. This guide IS NOT a guide on recovering your save, only backing it up

Backing Up Your Save

Holocure stores your save file in a different location on your computer from your game directory. So regardless of where you had your original Holocure folder and .exe file located, the location and steps should be the same for everyone.

  • Navigate to:
    • Users(your username)\AppData\Local\HoloCure as shown below:
  • Look for save_n.dat. That is the file that contains all your save data and progress. Copy this to a separate folder as a backup.
  • Download the Steam Version and run it. If you start getting achievement pop-ups for everything you did on your previous save, then CONGRATS you don’t have to do anything else! If the game throws you a fresh save file, then proceed to the next step.
  • Navigate back to:
    • Users(your username)\AppData\Local\HoloCure
  • where you will find that the majority of the files have a new “Date Modified” date. Copy your backup save_n.dat file and paste it in here, replacing the newly created one.
  • Now boot up the game and watch as your screen gets flooded with achievement notifications!
