Here I’ll cover some very common mistake people make on lux and some support specific advice you’ll need.

Tips and Tricks to Play Lux
Common Lux Complaints/Mistakes
Lux’s whole kit comprised of painfully slow skillshots that any competent player can dodge from range, she has long windups and missing anything doesn’t often go unpunished. Note that if you’re playing champions like this, you want to keep note of ways you can guarantee your abilities to land.
- Make sure you dont throw E and Q at the same time! note that these are literally your only two CC/setup abilities, if you’re impatient and throw both at once and miss you’re betting your life on that. Remember that if you land one of these abilities, the root/slow is enough to almost guarantee the other ability lands.
- Be patient. Save your abilities as follow up to an ally’s engage, setup for your abilities and make sure you’re throwing abilities when opponents are under pressure. What does this mean? throw abilities when your enemy laner is about to cs, throw your E behind them or force them to dodge into your ally or somewhere that’s easier to land Q.
This clip is a good example of how you can abuse this, I held my E right until xayah walked up to cs and once the slow landed I Q flash to guarantee the kill while she’s slowed. If I had thrown a Q at random there, xayah would be under no pressure and wouldn’t lose anything from simply dodging. Adding to that, if I had thrown Q instead of E it would be too slow to land.
Laning Phase as Support
Lux support is the lane I play her in the most and personally have the most success in. She’s not item reliant, has build flexibility and destroys alot of strong botlane picks. I always start the match with a control ward if I know I can protect it (take stealth ward instead into aggressive matchups where you’re pushed under tower). This serves as a way to guarantee you have bush control, which is important in support for a number of reasons
- In bushes, your opponents have no information where you are, where you skillshots will initially come from, and they can’t see your champ model’s windup. Abuse this with your range to bully the enemy adc off cs, and snag some poke on the enemy support every time they walk up to proc their support item.
- The support with more bush control is the support that has more control over the lane. Make sure to keep dewarding and break the enemy support’s ward in their bush if you can, the more vision for you and the less vision for your opponent the better. Ask your adc to ward river with their own wards
Objective Fights
Alot of playing lux in objectives is general support positioning and micro, so I wont be covering most of that. But ill give my little pieces of advice for playing teamfights as lux
- Your E is a very good zoning tool. Alot of lux players seem to sit around in teamfights waiting to land Q E R and call it a day, but there’s alot of ways you can use this ability. The AoE in this thing is a very decent size, and no one wants to get hit by that. You can place it down in the river in any way that makes it difficult for your opponents to engage, then hold your binding and just keep throwing Es until someone tries to walk around it or steps on it.
- Do not be afraid to walk up aggressively and be confident in your skillshots! the best way to play lux support is by making it extremely hard for your opponents to start any fight against you, so make sure you’re staying back as your team does an objective to harass enemies off by using your E to plug chokepoints and throwing Q to punish attempts at an engage
