Tips for Match on Facility
By UltraMikaHD.
When you first spawn in on facility, Aliens will spawn on either of the bridges in the snow. The first thing that should be done is to check which elevator extract is active. For most spawns, you can rush to the closest door to go check except for C <-> A, A-side as you then have to walk across the entire sector, you should instead turn around to go check C. Since there are 3 elevators, you can determine the elevator by process of elimination.
If both aliens do this, you can determine which elevator is active within the first 30 seconds of the game. This is vital in beginning the prep phase of the game – when you know where heavy teams are going to go, it’s easier to plan out an ambush. Think about the contract locations, the warehouse, etc. and plan on mercs coming from that direction to the elevator.
Collecting 2-3 eggs at this time will unlock your trap egg ability. At this time you can start placing egg traps all around the elevator area, and pathways leading to it. After a bit, the rest of the eggs around you will grow in size, allowing you to get a little bit more energy per egg. From this point, it could become more of whatever preferred playstyle you might have, whether it’s chip damage harassment, meeting up and working with your duo, continuing to trap everything, etc.
The most important vent in my opinion is the vent that leads from B <-> C that connects near the non-extract elevator and basement C. This vent can let you quickly change sides, or cut off mercs who use that non extract elevator.
Another important vent you can use is the one in the green screen media room back room, as it leads down into A tech basement- being the only vent that leads between floors.
There are other good vents like the ones above the hallways near extract elevators that you can use to gain visuals on mercs and snipe from.
A suggested playstyle for after you’ve trapped the elevator sufficiently:
Roaming and harassing. Constantly be using you damaging abilities, like G and Spit, to harass the mercs you find. Put eggs down on cooldown, this isn’t optional. Egg is life. If it’s safe enough, I’ll run up to mercs and slap them once or twice, and run away. I’ll burn an EMP to turn off room lights while I’m doing this, as well. The key is to get mercs to use their anti-alien, expendable weapons, flares/glowsticks/flashlights/etc.
If you try to commit to fighting a merc(s) that have all of these available, you’ll find it much more difficult. If they’re experienced and you’re not, you’ll almost certainly die this way. The key to alien is to STAY ALIVE. The longer you’re alive with a full energy bar being accessible, the more effective use of your time you’ll make. If you find mercs that have put themselves in a dead end/room. Put eggs around to the path of the nearest wire and their pursuit avenue. Overconfident mercs will try to run you down and pay dearly for it. A huge additional bonus to this is that you want mercs making noise. Mercs are humans, humans are greedy (Also, weak and delicious).
Regardless of what the other mercs may have, other mercs almost always want to run their pockets. Mercs shooting at you while you’re doing drive-bys creates noise and mistakes. Combining locking down the elevator area with harassing merc groups will get you more and more lobby wipes, or at least about half. If you’re going to commit to an engagement, make sure you’re getting the value out of it. Sometimes, you might run into groups and situations where it’s incredibly unlikely that you’ll be able to secure even a single kill. For these, I’ll gladly sacrifice that life to completely take a merc out. This is all coming from a solo alien player and I secure 4-6 kills, regularly, by myself. If I have an alien duo that has a mic and some experience, 6 is usually the minimum.
I hope this was helpful to you!
