Currency: There are two currencies in the game. Money and Information that you can use to buy objects in the different shops. The Money and the Info are shared between the characters, so it doesn´t matter the character you play with, when you change to another one, the Money and Info will be always available.

Money shops: The money shops are throughout the whole game. Look for the Mysterious Stranger. The money shop contains a random selection of items: Resources, Consumables, Amulets, Clothes and Weapons.

Info shop: There is only one Info shop in the game. It is located in one of the rooms of the Artist’s house, accessible after getting the key in one of the main quests of the game. The Info shop sells exclusively Blueprints for crafting items.

Character’s belt: It has 4 slots. You can put Consumable items that you want to quickly activate during the action. Important note: To craft some items at the Workbench, you may need consumables as ingredients. Please note that the Consumables placed in the Character’s belt won´t count as available for crafting purposes.

The Artist’s House (Base)

Storage

The Storage is located in the Crafting room of the Artist’s House. The player can use it to share objects between different characters.

  1. Character’s Inventory: In this section you will see the inventory of the current active character.
  2. Object visual: In this section you will see a bigger representation of the object currently selected.
  3. Storage: In this section you will see the general Storage, accessible to every character. It has two labels. Storage will show the usable items. Resources will show the resources currently in possession of the characters. Resources are accessible for every character.

Workbench

The Workbench is located in the Crafting room of the Artist’s House. The player can use it to create all sorts of objects, from consumables, to improved versions of weapons and clothes. To create an item, you need to first find the blueprint, or buy it at the info shop. Then, you need to have all the resources. You will see in the interface what resources you need to create a given item, by clicking on the item that you want to create.

  1. List of blueprints: Here, the players will see the items that they can create, if they have the resources necessary. By clicking on one of the items in this section, the players will details of the item, and the resources needed to create one, in the middle section of the screen.
It is possible to filter by type of item, by pressing the icons on the upper part, to ease the search of the blueprint desired.
  2. Crafting section: Here, the players will see the item selected, the amount and kind of resources necessary, which will appear in red color if there aren´t enough, and the CRAFT button, to create the item.
  3. Inventory/Storage: Here, the players can see the items located in the Inventory of the currently active character, and of the Storage, for a quick reference before crafting anything.

Character Selection

The Magic Painting to change the active character is located in the Crafting room of the Artist’s House. The player can use it to change the active character at any time. The players will have available from the first time they visit the Artist’s House, and get access to the Crafting room, 3 characters: Detective, Professor and Witch. The players must find the other three characters to unlock them, so they appear here as well.

Characters’ Side Quests

Each character has a class specific side quest which is optional, but the players can play it in order to get better items, resources, as a basic side quest, but also will be good to know a bit more about the story of the character, and how they are related to the Artist.

There are several pieces of furniture in the Crafting room. Each of them can be triggered by one specific character. Other characters won´t be able to do anything with it. The player must find what piece of furniture works with what character.

Warning: The character’s side quest starts immediately after activating the furniture. Don´t activate it if you are not sure that you are ready to commit the task.

Types of Chests & Containers

There are many types of containers and chests. Each of them contains different kind of objects. It is very important to learn to identify them. We encourage the player to loot as much as possible, because some resources are really scarce, or necessary in big quantities.

Altars

There are Altars to the Gods of the Mythos throughout the whole game. These are risky constructions that, when activated, they provide the character very powerful amulets/artifacts, and also bonuses to a certain skills, at the exchange of sanity, and other certain debuffs, depending on the deity.

We will leave for now the details about which are the buffs and debuffs, so you can test them. Maybe, in the future, we will publish a detailed list of the effects of the Altars.

Good Practice Advice

  • Rogue-like elements. Understand what that means: Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 is an adventure/action game with elements of Rogue-like genre. Given that fact, please know that:
    • Levels are generated randomly: That affects not just the construction of the map, but also the loot that you get. This means that not always you will get the item that you are looking for or you need, and it may create impossible situations on which it is impossible to progress in the game. It can be frustrating at times? Yes. Is this kind of game for everyone? No. Can you blame the game for that? Not quite. There is always an alternative; the clue is to know how to find it.
    • You will lose progress is you die: But as our game is not a 100% pure rogue-like, we won´t punish the players going all the way to the beginning. They will only lose the progress on the level where they died.
    • If you don´t like Rogue-likes, you won´t like Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2.
  • Exploring is essential: We have included a new feature in Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 that the first part didn´t have: The quest marker. It is up to the players to limit themselves to follow the quest markers, or to fully explore every single level. We direly recommend the latter. Exploring brings lots of rewards, potential resources, items, and minievents. If you want to get far in the game, you will need a lot of resources and focus on crafting. That is because…
  • You won’t “Rambo” this game: Just like that. If you think that you will be able to play one quest after another until the end of the game, that you will get the items that you need every single time, that the game will give you enough medkits to survive, or that the random generation will always create fair combinations of enemies in a room … You are wrong! If that´s how you want to play Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2, you can try, but sooner or later you will find yourself in a dead end situation, with no consumables, enemies too hard to kill with your current weapon, and without the possibility of going back. Hoard resources, craft a lot of consumables (craft more when you think you have enough), and explore the levels completely for weapons and equipment… and you will get far.
  • Side quests? Yes, please: We have included side quests in the game for a reason. By playing just the main storyline you won´t get far, unless you are an ace in this type of games, or very lucky with the loot drop. The difficulty progression is real, and you will find situations where completing the main quest is just not possible with the current equipment. Side quests are average difficulty levels, where you can find resources and items that will make your character more powerful, and ready to complete the main story quest. If you see that you are dying a lot in the same level, go search for a pack of newspapers to activate the side quest.

Additional Advice: It is better to have side quests already activated for when you need them, than find yourself needing a side quest and not having one. Search actively for the newspapers, and activate the side quest as soon as you see one. You may not have the possibility of activating this side quest again in the future.

Crafting Vs. Farming: Crafting is one of the main features that we have included in this game, and the player must craft to go far in the game. That doesn´t mean that by simply farming items you cannot complete the game, it will be just more difficult, and you will have to be really lucky with the loot drop.

By crafting, you can be sure that you will always have enough consumables, and you can make more powerful versions of the basic weapons and clothes (which you cannot find as loot from enemies and containers).

There are also consumables that won´t drop in the game, and only you can craft in the Artist’s house. Make crafting part of your gameplay, look for blueprints, get enough resources, and don´t forget that the money shop sells resources, and that in the Artist’s house there is the Info shop that sells blueprints.

Didn´t get what you want? Restart the level: Our game is not a pure rogue-like where if you die or restart, you go all the way to the beginning. In Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2, if you die, you will lose progress in the location where you are. You can use this to your advantage. There are always containers in the starting room of one level. Open them, check what you found inside, and if you didn´t get what you need, restart the level, and try again. Take this as a free of charge cheat from the developer.

Go shopping: Money and Info as currency are important. You won´t always find what you need as loot, and the shops are there to assist you. The money shops have all kind of items (resources, weapons, clothes, amulets, consumables…) Whenever you see a shop, check it out, and… if you are lucky enough to find a money shop in the first room of a level, but it doesn´t have the item that you are looking for… Read point 6!!

We really hope that with these advices, you will be able to successfully understand the concept of our game, play, and enjoy Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2.

  1. “This means that not always you will get the item that you are looking for or you need, and it may create impossible situations on which it is impossible to progress in the game” mmm… I don’t like how that sounds. I think I’ll play one hour to see how bad it is, but being locked out of a session as a feature sounds like a dealbreaker to me…
