Nancy Drew Dossier: Lights, Camera, Curses! – All Audio Diary Locations Guide (Gramophone Records)

Where to find the optional audio diaries.

Guide to All Audio Diary Locations

Introduction

This is a short guide detailing how to obtain all of the audio diaries – also known as gramophone records – in Nancy Drew Dossier: Lights, Camera, Curses! Collecting these is optional, mainly serving to give a bit more background to a couple of the characters. Missing out on any or all of these will not affect whether or not you get the alternate ending, but it will provide you an extra opportunity to continue your score chain to help get the necessary amount of points to unlock it.

Once obtained, you can click on your journal at the bottom of the play screen, and then click on the blue (middle) tab. From there, you can click the audio icons circled below to take you to the “Extras” tab for that chapter, and then click the audio icon again to listen to the recordings. As far as I know, there are only audio diaries in 4 chapters, so don’t worry if your journal looks scarce in this regard.

Audio Diary #1 – Cat Noir (Chapter 2)

At the beginning of chapter 2, you are tasked with finding an ankh for Molly. To do this, you will need to recharge the batteries in your flashlight by cleaning up some packing peanuts. Once the flashlight is working, shine it to the left of the trash can near the edge of the screen to reveal a screwdriver. Use the screwdriver on the sewer grate to reveal the first audio diary. Please note that once you obtain the ankh from the crate behind the locked door, you will no longer be able to obtain this.

Audio Diary #2 – Sensitive Materials (Chapter 11)

At the beginning of chapter 11, just before you head to the prop room, there is some broken glass to clean up first. Once you find the key to the closet and unlock it, there is a broom in plain sight to clean up the mess, but hidden above it is a box. Click on it and use the eye icon to get the second audio diary. You need to grab this one before clicking the arrow to move to the next screen, but you are able to safely clean up the glass first, if you’d like.

Audio Diary #3 – Play It Again (Chapter 17)

In the middle of chapter 17, you will come across a piano and a torn piece of sheet music. Above the nearest sofa, there is a picture frame you can move by using the hand icon, which will reveal the third audio diary. You can obtain this at any point in this scene before attempting to play the repaired sheet music.

Audio Diary #4 – The Final Scene (Chapter 25)

In the final chapter, you start off by angling reflective items to provide light to the old buried movie set. Once you do this, you’ll be prompted to move to the next screen with the hieroglyphs, but before you do, click on the opening at the top of the stairs and use the eye icon to get the final audio diary. Don’t worry if you advance to the next screen before grabbing this, as you’ll have one more chance to get it after solving the hieroglyphs puzzle – just be sure to do so before grabbing the lost film footage, and you’re good!

Conclusion

And that’s it! I know it’s not much, but none of the other guides I’ve seen for this game seemed to have full knowledge of where to find these hidden items, so I hope it helps somebody.
