Peglin – Quick Guide to Shattered Mirrors (Mirrorb) Event

Overanalysis on Shattered Mirrors (Mirrorb)

By Concentrication (and die).

If removing is so good, why do you never do it in this event? Is the mirrorb really that good? What if it copies a pebball? A horriball? Is it good then? But also is the random remove ever good? It removes half of your orbs, you usually have a synergistic deck at mines so it’s probably the worse option right? You have to take one of those options, so which is better?

So you can randomly remove half of your orbs, rounded down. If this was, let’s say forest or castle, this would probably be a top 3 event, but this is a mines only event. As a mines event, this option isn’t that good. You’re in mines, right? You probably have a strong deck, a synergistic deck, and removing half of your strong orbs or synergy orbs is sad. It can make you die sooner, and especially on c15+ where reloads are worse.

Let’s say you have 5 orbs you want to keep and 2 you want to get rid of. You always lose 3 orbs here, so you always lose one of the orbs you want to keep here. So best case is probably you lose the 2 orbs you don’t want and a good orb, right? You have a thin deck now, can cycle faster, get more use out of your reload relics, good chances of winning. On the other hand, you could keep those 2 bad orbs and instead lose, let’s say for example, 3 good orbs. Now, you’re just dead. You die the next floor, as now instead of having a synergistic deck, you have a deck with little to no synergy.

So when do you take this option? If you’re early in the act, you can take it. If you don’t have a consistent deck by the time you see this event, you could take it and try to make a deck with half of your orbs removed. If you have a certain shield and cheese, this event can enable that. Overall though, if you’ve made it to mines, you probably have a consistent, synergistic deck, so this random removal isn’t that helpful. It could be good for reload relics, but if you don’t have good orbs to use those buffs or healing, chances are you die anyway.

The mirrorb though, now this orb is just good. This orb copies all traits of a random orb in your deck, changing every reload. The average deck has maybe 5-6 orbs, excluding pebballs? Maybe a little more? So the mirrorb has a 1/5 or whatever chance to hit the horriball, which are decent odds. But then you factor in the pebballs you might have, and it turns into a 3/7 or whatever odds that you hit a bad orb, which is around a 1/2 chance. That might seem pretty bad, but 4/8 orbs aren’t even that bad. If your whole strategy of buffing, it doesn’t change anything. If it isn’t, then you have a dead turn sometimes.

But keep in mind that this changes every reload. If you have a horriball copy for example, next time it might be a ballad or a susceptiball! This event is kind of like gift in a way. Sure it seems really good and it doesn’t have any downsides, but the reality is it’s really good but has a pretty big downside. The inconsistency. So the orb is really good when it hits, right? Double scaling, more big damage orbs, we love it when this hits. But what if it duds a few times? How much does it impact you if there’s another pebball, another horriball in your orb queue? Do you not care, or does it just not matter? This option is the better of the two, but if you haven’t gotten rid of most of your bad orbs by the time you get this, you probably should before this duds 3 times in a row and kills you.
