How many Frenemies can I have?

The current maximum is 20.

How many total asynchronous matches can I have?

Why do some players have a gold border around their portrait?

The gold portrait indicates that the player has an active Phobies Subscription.

Level

What do Phobies get when they level up?

Their hit points, damage, and ability damage/healing all increase by 3%. This means that a Phobie that is three levels above yours will have 9% higher stats. A Phobie that is ten levels above yours will have 30% higher stats.

What is the maximum Phobie level?

The current maximum Phobie level is 30.

What determines how much XP I get from each turn?

While the community has not figured out the exact formula for XP gain, all of the following provide XP during a player’s turn:

• Damaging enemy Phobies.
• Damaging the enemy heart.
• Healing Phobies.
• Capturing panic point.
• Summoning new Phobies.

What determines how many tears I get from a match?

When you win, you will always receive 300 tears from a match. A draw will always result in 200 tears.

A loss will result in anywhere from 0 to 240 tears, depending on how much damage you dealt to the enemy heart.

What determines how much coffee I get from a match?

• A win will always result in you receiving 5 coffee.
• A draw will always result in you receiving 3 coffee.
• A loss will result in you receiving anywhere from 0-3 coffee, depending on your performance.

What is the XP cap?

At level 1, the XP cap is 5,500.

From there, stress level multipliers can apply, raising the cap by 30% for every level ending in 5, starting at level 15. When applicable, the value always rounds up. Daily double and XP boost cap increases are then applied, and the value is rounded up again if applicable. This value is then rounded to the nearest 50, providing the final value.

How many coffee advertisements can I watch per day?

A maximum of 5. One every 2 hours until you are locked out until the daily reset.

How many advertisement jacks can I watch per day?

You can watch up to 5 advertisement jacks per free jack. There are a maximum of 3 free jacks per day due to the 8 hour reset timer. This means you can get at most 15 advertisement jacks per day.

When do daily jacks refresh?

Daily jacks refresh every 22 hours or when you next log in after the 22 hour period has ended, whichever occurs last.

What are the different jack types, and what do they give?

• Basic Jack – baseline rewards, improved by stress level boosts.
• Hypno Jack – 2x rewards compared to the Basic Jack.
• Cracker Jack – 3x rewards compared to the Basic Jack.
• Diamond Jack – Cracker Jack card duplicates and ½ Cracker Jack tears or XP.

League

How do the seasonal ranked rewards work?

Each week, you will receive an amount of coffee depending on your league and number of games played. The values below are only for playing the full 42 matches per week:

• Sum of all Fear III: 150
• Sum of all Fears II: 143
• Sum of all Fears: 135
• Doomsday III: 128
• Doomsday II: 120
• Doomsday: 113

Further values would need to be compiled by the community to extend these values downward, but the apparent pattern is -7 coffee per league.

What makes a game count as a match?

If you deal at least 1,000 damage, the game will count you as having completed a match so long as the match is completed. If you surrender, the game will not be counted as a match.

Is it possible to lose enough points to drop down a league?

Yes. However, the game provides a 50-point buffer for you before you will drop down a league. For example, at 3000 rating you will enter the Sum of all Fears league. If you drop to 2990 rating, you will still be in Sum of all Fears. You must drop to a 2949 rating to move back to Doomsday III.

Matches

How does matchmaking work?

Matchmaking is purely based on your in-game rating. Stress level, Phobie level, etc., are not considered at all. When queueing for a match, the rating window you will get matched with widens over time. So when you first queue for a match, the game will look for players very close to you in rating. If it cannot find another player in queue with a similar rating, it will also start to consider players who are somewhat close to you in rating. The rating window will continue to widen its consideration until a match is found.

How many asynchronous matches can I have simultaneously?

You may have up to 50 asynchronous matches going simultaneously!

How many pending asynchronous matches can I have simultaneously?

You may only have 5 asynchronous matches with pending opponents simultaneously.

What happens when a match expires?

The player whose time expired loses the match, and the player whose time did not expire wins the match, with all accrued rewards given as well. There is no downside to winning a match through time expiration.

Troubleshooting

Why did my quests not refresh?

If you surrender too many matches in a row, the game will lock you out from quest refreshes as a punishment. Anecdotally, players have reported that it will take up to four days for quest refreshes to return.

How do I disable turn notifications on Steam?

First, open Steam. Then, click on Steam > Settings > Notifications. Scroll down this menu and disable “I receive a Steam Turn notification”.

Quests

When does the game give you poison / disease credit for a quest?

So long as the unit you poison survives the poisoning attack, your quest will count the attempt. If the Phobie dies on that same turn from an attack other than the poisoning attack, you will get credit. If the Phobie is cured at the end of the turn through a healing spa, you will get credit. If you poison a Phobie that is already afflicted with poison, you will get credit. If an enemy Phobie steps on a poison tile, you will get credit.

Can Quests be completed in Frenemies matches?

No.

How many times can I reroll a quest?

You can reroll a quest once for free every day. After that, you can watch up to 5 advertisements to receive additional quest rerolls.

MVP

How is the Phobie MVP determined for a match?

The game has a hidden MVP-point system. It takes into account:

• Damage dealt
• Damage taken
• Abilities used
• Panic points captured
• Healing done

There may be more factors at play. Specific values in the system are not known to the playerbase at this time. If multiple Phobies have an equal MVP score, the game gives precedence based on the order the Phobies appear in your Collection Album.

How are account MVPs determined?

The game simply takes the 3 highest Phobie MVP counts among your current game replay history.
