Offlaner Tips
For beginners Grux and Steel are the easiest.
When you’re getting better try Kwang, Grux and Terra. The latter two will be best once you get comfortable as a tank and want to try a bruiser.
Aurora
She can handle the offlane, is harder to play and also better in jungle. Her kit works better in jungle, plus her passive helps her clear very fast. She’s hard to finish off and has good trades.
Greystone
He is the best to learn offlane. You learn the ideas of trades, you have an escape (you may not have good positioning so this is essential), and his ult give you a second life if shit hits the fan.
Serath
I think Ser is actually fine in teamfights, but you need to play her more for distraction instead of doing damage/tanking. She needs to be dealt with, so in the time the opponent team or a part of it focus her your carry can do a ton of damage and your team can win the fight. Just getting the carry out of the fight, even if dieing can be quite valuable, but with her kit you are probably even be able to get out of the fight most of the time after breaking the formation of the opponents.
For her it is probably better to fight in the jungle and not on lane, because she likes it more if the terrain isn’t open.
Crunch
He is not for beginners. Crunch is still good but he’s been powercrept a little by terra. He’s still one of the most fun characters though.
Shinbi
For sure she is the most fun to play and she has good dmg and survivalbility.
Conclusion
In terms of meta, Kwang, Aurora, Terra all are very strong with good cc, damage and generally being more forgiving to play. Greystone and Steel are solid picks and are great frontliners in teamfights. Feng Mao and Sevarog have slower laning phases but can be demons mid-late game if you are ahead. Grux is a bully in lane but very vulnerable to ganks. Personally i think Shinbi is okay but she can get bullied hard by other offlaners especially with high mobility (Serath is the bane of Shinbi’s existence).
