How to Fluffy Hunt

Introduction

You want to hunt Fluffies, you and your friends are kitted out in the finest Howell-Barrex equipment, you have the weapons to survive STROL domination of Mars, and you got the teamwork of an entire Condatis Platoon with the ingenuity of Insurgents.

Know that the F.L.U.F.F.Y Hunt is not for fresh recruits, disorganized teams, moderately experienced veterans, teams who don’t know they’re doing the F.L.U.F.F.Y Hunt, players who are not equipped for F.L.U.F.F.Y Hunting, and in general anything but highly experienced players with tight coordination.

Hunting Grounds

Now onto the meat of this guide. I only know of how to initiate the F.L.U.F.F.Y Hunt on one map, “Prevent Infestation Spread”.

There are several map requirements for initiating the hunt that I know of. They are

  1. Map set to Prevent Infestation Spread
  2. Difficult is set to Very Hard
  3. Total difficulty is set to 3 “Skulls”

If these settings are not initialized, then this guide will not help you in initiating the hunt, whether by my lack of knowledge or it flat out not letting you.

I believe the difficulty might be able to bet set to Hard instead of Very Hard, but I have not tested this yet.

Finding Prey

So, now you got your kit polished, your team is prepped, now you just need to start it. Know that F.L.U.F.F.Y Hunt has to be initiated in the first three waves I believe, or else it will not trigger.

There is a major thing to know about initiating F.L.U.F.F.Y Hunts, that I know of at least.

The first power terminal has to be the trigger terminal

What this means is that if anyone on the team activates another power station, like say to get inside a building, powering a block, or grabbing buffs, will cause it to not activate. Thus, it is important to know if you’re doing a F.L.U.F.F.Y Hunt beforehand, so then you don’t accidentally screw up everything.

Standard item containers, basic containers and such, are perfectly fine to use to my knowledge however. They will not cause the initialization of the F.L.U.F.F.Y Hunt to fail.

The Power Terminal that triggers F.L.U.F.F.Y Hunt on Prevent Infestation Spread is to the North-East of the map, and only one person should activate it.

Power Terminal in question

Power Terminal location on Map

The specific terminal, if a prefab spawn has another power terminal near it, is always the one closest to the road.

Now that you got the power on, you need to find the console. Fortunately, it is relatively consistent in its spawns on this map. It is always on the center of the road to the right of the central prefab structure.

Where the Console usually is

Brief-case looking thing in the center is the console

If you have followed the instructions properly, then that console should be lit up and when hovered over display a string of 4 sets of two numbers. Activate it, and it will trigger the initiation sequence for F.L.U.F.F.Y Hunt. Note that it will take a little while to actually add in the secondary objective, and it might be based on the team being clustered.

The Hunt Begins

So, assuming everything went well, you activated Project TERRA, and the hunt is on! Now you just need to go down swinging.

General tips

  • Get inside a structure to funnel the Fluffies and you into a choke point.
  • Fluffies can break down thin walls like a Demolition’s Wallbreaker if my memory serves. Prefer thicker walls.
  • Rocket Launcher spam in a tight enclosed hall, while normally a horrible idea, is a decent idea on the hunt due to being at most level 4-5 and there being hundreds of Fluffies coming.
  • Everyone should be in one group. Clustering too close isn’t the best, but it’s better than being picked off one by one.
  • Don’t do any other missions. Not really any reason to honestly, taking down the hunt is a mission in and of itself.
