The solution removes the black bars from the game at 21:9 and wider as far as possible within the limitations of its static backgrounds.

How-To (Step-by-Step)

  • Download this mod archive.
  • Unpack the files to the game directory.
  • To uninstall, simply remove or move the files.

Notes

  • Tested on the latest Steam version primarily at 2560×1080.
  • Additionally tested at 3440×1440, take a look at screenshot below.

Important Note for Linux Users

For Linux users wanting to use the fix you’d need to also set launch options in addition to copying the files:

  • WINEDLLOVERRIDES=”winmm=n,b” %command%

    Ultrawide fix is awesome on 5120×1440!
    Unfortunately I only saw this after finishing the game and getting all achievements and trivia cards.
    Gotta replay it anyway 😀
