Introduction

Scorn is a pretty short game. It can be beaten in around 6-8 hours and there are a total of 12 achievements. 11 of the achievements can be obtained just by completing the game. The final missing achievement will either be “001” or “002” depending on a choice you make in Act 1.

001 – Missable

  • Unlocked by cutting open the hatchling’s egg.

Story – Can be missed.

This is one of two outcomes for the hatchling and only one can be completed in a playthrough. The other being the “002” achievement.

Take the elevator up until you reach this puzzle.

Once you have solved the puzzle and the hatchling has been lowered down (using the crane on the bottom floor).

You must push the cart around the track and into a room that looks like this:

Then just mess around with the consoles until it gets cut out of it’s egg. After a little while it will stand up and follow you. Lead it to the multi-tool giver machine so it can help you open the large door. (pictured right behind the egg-cutting machine under the light).

002 – Missable

  • Unlocked by cutting off the hatchling’s hand.

Story – Can be missed.

This is one of two outcomes for the hatchling and only one can be completed in a playthrough. The other being the “001” achievement.

Follow the same steps as the “001” achievement except this time you must change the tracks and push the cart into a room that looks like this:

Then just mess around with the consoles until the creature is disposed of, leaving only his hand. The achievement will pop.

003

  • Unlocked by inserting three power sources into the large pillar that opens shutters (shortly after you get the gun). After you insert the final power source the pillar will explode and you will fall unconscious. The achievement will pop.

Puzzle Solutions

Puzzle #1 (Crane Puzzle)

This is the first puzzle in the game and it looks like this:

It can be accessed from the first large open area via an elevator.

Left right down and up refer to the vertical and horizontal movement of the crane. “Grab” and “Release” refer to the manipulation of the crane’s claws with the left mouse button. To grab hold LMB and to release, release LMB. “Exit controls” means leave the control console that controls the crane and use the other console to the left that controls the vertical conveyor belt.

For the sake of clarity I will divide each line into no more than 5 directions.

There is no way to reset the puzzle without reloading a save. If you mess up, I highly recommend reloading a save and starting again.

The text in parenthesis is not an instruction, it is to make sure you have picked up the correct egg. There are two lit eggs, one is on its own and the other is attached to a dead egg. If you follow the instructions carefully, and from the crane’s starting position, you should have no problems.

From the starting position the sequence is as follows:

  • Down, Left, Grab, Right, Right.
  • Right, Release, Left, Left, Down.
  • Grab (the first lit up egg), Up, Left, Left, Left.
  • Left, Up, Release, Exit controls.

Now use the console to the left of the crane puzzle. The lit up egg will be broken by the machine and a dead moldman will fall out. When the animation has finished, go back to the crane puzzle console and enter this sequence:

  • Right, Right, Right, Right, Down.
  • Down, Grab, Right, Release, Left.
  • Left, Up, Grab, Down, Right.
  • Release, Left, Left, Left, Left.
  • Left, Left, Up, Up, Grab.
  • Down, Left, Left, Release, Right.
  • Right, Right, Right, Up, Grab.
  • Left, Left, Release, Down, Down.
  • Grab, Up, Right, Right, Down.
  • Release, Up, Right, Grab, Up.
  • Left, Release, Down, Down, Grab.
  • Up, Right, Right, Right, Down.
  • Release, Up, Up, Left, Left.
  • Grab, Down, Left, Left, Release.
  • Right, Right, Right, Down, Grab.
  • Up, Up, Left, Left, Down.
  • Release, Up, Left, Grab, Right.
  • Right, Right, Down, Right, Release.
  • Down, Grab, Left, Down, Release.
  • Up, Up, Grab, Down, Release.
  • Up, Left, Left, Left, Grab.
  • Up, Right, Right, Right, Down.
  • Right, Release, Left, Left, Left.
  • Left, Left, Left, Left, Down.
  • Grab, Right, Right, Up, Up.
  • Right, Right, Right, Down, Release.
  • Left, Left, Left, Left, Grab.
  • Right, Right, Up, Right, Right.
  • Right, Release, Left, Left, Down.
  • Grab, Up, Left, Left, Down.
  • Left, Left, Up, Release, Exit Console

Now interact with the other console one more time, the egg will be placed on the vertical conveyor belt and taken down to the ground level. Take the elevator back down and use the crane that sits on the ground floor just underneath the conveyor belt. This will put the Moldman egg into the cart for you to push it. From here you can climb the large pillar in the middle of the room to change the track placement. See the “001” and “002” sections of the guide for more information.

Puzzle #2 (Rotating Pin Puzzles)

In Act 2 there are 5 rotating pin puzzles, four of which look like this:

The goal of these puzzles is to rotate the outside ring to connect it with the inner rings using the “Use” button until all of the rings are connected.

In the first and last puzzle, the rings do not move on their own and so more traditional instructions can be given. However the second, third and fourth puzzles have their outside rings moving on a timer. For these, I will list what notches stop in which grooves.

Puzzle 1/5 (Same as Picture Above)

From the starting position the sequence is as follows:

  • Left, Left, Use, Left, Left, Use, Left, Use, Left, Use

Puzzle 2/5

In this puzzle, the three rings you need to match up, move on their own. Starting with the outside ring and ending with the inside. Each notch in a ring will only stop in one groove. You will be able to both see and hear this as an audible click plays when a notch and a groove align.

Starting from the outermost ring:

  • The first notch stops in the bottom left groove.
  • The second notch stops in the top groove.
  • The third notch stops in the bottom groove.

Puzzle 3/5

Like in puzzle 2, the three rings you need to match up, move on their own. Starting with the outside ring and ending with the inside. Each notch in a ring will only stop in one groove. You will be able to both see and hear this as an audible click plays when a notch and a groove align.

Starting from the outermost ring:

  • The first notch stops in the bottom left groove.
  • The second notch stops in the top right groove.
  • The third notch stops in the top left groove.

Puzzle 4/5

Again, the three rings you need to match up, move on their own. Starting with the outside ring and ending with the inside. Each notch in a ring will only stop in one groove. You will be able to both see and hear this as an audible click plays when a notch and a groove align.

Starting from the outermost ring:

  • The first notch stops in the top right groove.
  • The second notch stops in the bottom right groove.
  • The third notch stops in the bottom left groove.

Puzzle 5/5

Now that you have collected all four rings return to the room with the elevator to find this ^ console.

The goal of this puzzle is to match all the white lights to the red lights from left to right, by turning the cylinder on the right.

For the sake of clarity I will divide each line into no more than 5 directions.

There is no way to reset the puzzle without reloading a save. If you mess up, I highly recommend reloading a save and starting again.

From the starting position the sequence is as follows:

  • Down, Down, Left, Up, Up.
  • Up, Up, Left, Down, Down.
  • Down, Down, Left, Up, Up
  • Left , Up, Up

Puzzle #3 (Light Puzzle)

The goal of these puzzles is to get every light to light up.

In the first puzzles there are four lights and in the second one there are six lights

There is no way to reset the puzzle without reloading a save. If you mess up, I highly recommend reloading a save and starting again.

Puzzle 1/2

From the starting position the solution is as follows:

Puzzle 2/2

From the starting position the solution is as follows:

  1. I don’t know if it’s a bug or not, but I don’t have achievement 006 even thought I have 007 and 008. Somehow I “missed” it some way.
