Sierra Ops – Episode 2: Dissonance & Resonance Achievement Guide

100% achievement guide for the second episode of Sierra Ops: Dissonance & Resonance.

Brief Introduction

Hello and welcome to 100% achievement guide for the second episode of Sierra ops: Dissonance & Resonance. I recently came back to the game after playing it back in 2020 when only the first episode was out and ended up enjoying it so much i wanted to do something more after getting all of the achievements in both episodes. I noticed that there was a guide for getting all of them in the first episode, but a distinct lack of one for the second episode, so I figured I would try and make one~! It’s my first time making a guide and English isn’t my first language, but hopefully this will still help you out going for that coveted “Poster Boy” achievement!

Obvious warning for the spoilers, so I would highly recommend you play through the game at least once by yourself before reading any further.

Dragon Slayer

Holy sh*t, maybe you can actually do this??

This achievement can trigger during chapter 3: dissonant flames boss battle against dreadnaught.

In order to have it trigger you need to do a certain amount of damage (around 40-50% damage) to the core of the ship, you will know you did it correctly if you got the achievement and an extra line of dialogue from the captain of the dreadnaught, along with it speeding off the screen at mach 10.

This one can be pretty hard depending on your upgrades and decisions. I would highly recommend during chapter 2: solar resonance free time events to pick earth (noble cause mission) as one of them, since that allows you to unlock a new type of weapon (Trident VLS rocket launcher) that helps out massively to do damage to the dreadnaught. Make sure to invest your money into getting as many of them as you can and make them target ships as well as investing in around 6 or so vanguard CIWS systems on top of the ones you get by default and set them to target frames since the dreadnaught loves to spam them. I would also highly recommend doing all the side quests you can beforehand, specifically 012U ALPHA (everyone has to eat) with all of the escorts for maximum ship upgrade points. My personal recommendation for ship upgrade would be investing enough points to unlock advanced hulls and shield regulator/ballistic platings.

During the battle itself set all of your CIWS systems on frames and every other weapon you have on ships and target the dreadnaught, use your Lapis to focus out the station turrets first, since those can destroy its shields in a few rockets. After they are all gone spam as much firepower as you can into one of the dreadnaughts sides until you do enough damage to target to core itself and don’t stop until the achievement pops. Assuming you have enough weapons/upgrades and set your ship to 100% firepower and you take out stations turrets/enemy ships that come to support the dreadnaught with Lapis this fight shouldn’t be too hard.

Dissonance and Resonance

Complete the main story.

This achievement is a freebie that will automatically unlock as soon as you finish the second episode in any of the three routes.

Optimistic Dream

Give her hope for a brighter future.

This achievement can be unlocked during chapter 1: Dawn of War.

In order to get this achievement you must choose to do a side mission by the name of “space cop” in 012U ALPHA.

This achievement tasks you with sparing the ship of Ares Captain (pictured in the achievement introduction image). The best way around to doing it would be following your engineer Rutherfords suggestion and using the EMP to disable all of the ships for a while, then focus firing onto the captain’s ship after making sure you pick spare ship option, found after clicking on the target ship next to its part health information. Assuming you did it correctly, you should get the achievement immediately after the fight is over and proceed to the scene where she surrenders willingly.

Expectations Blown

Be the perfect escort and don’t lose a single transport.

This achievement can be unlocked during chapter 2: Solar resonance.

You must pick O12U ALPHA (everyone has to eat) as one of your side quests for that chapter. I would highly recommend investing into your ship upgrades and weapons, as well as doing earth’s (noble cause) sidequest in the same chapter beforehand in order to unlock Trident VLS Systems.

In order to get the achievement you must keep every single escort ship alive during all 3 parts of the mission. After doing each part you will be asked if you want to continue on or meet up with the allies who are providing a decoy. You MUST pick the option to continue on or you will fail the requirements.

  • Parts 1 and 2 of the escort are laughably easy, and assuming you invested in ship and weapon upgrades wisely you can afk both of the parts by just setting Sierra to 100% firepower and doubling the in-game speed.
  • Part 3 is a much harder part, since you must protect 6 escort targets at the same time while a lot of enemy ships attack them. My main suggestion is to set Sierra to 100% firepower and use your Lapis to attack the smaller weaker ships on both sides. Make sure to constantly switch back to Sierra and pause the game to check all of the escort ships health by pressing on them. If one side has ships that are lower on health than the other prioritize that side with Lapis. As long as all the escort ships in all 3 parts make it out it doesn’t matter how much damage they take. Assuming you didn’t lose any the achievement should pop immediately after the missions end.

Straight S Student

Complete main story with an average rank of S.

This achievement can be gained after finishing the main story, assuming you’ve met the requirements.

S rank seems to be a combination of time spent/hull damage taken/enemies eliminated. After successfully completing any combat encounter you get a rank and a choice to restart the level or proceed. If you failed to get an S rank you can repeat the mission as many times as you want. Do note that you only need an average of S rank and not to get it on every single mission. Also, do note that it only counts the missions you actually go to so if you are having a really hard time with any of the optional side missions you can skip it and it won’t count as a strike against you.

Beautiful Rotten City

Go on an outing with Jean.

This achievement will automatically trigger after an outing with Jean during chapter 3: Dissonant Flames, assuming you picked her as your best friend.

Do note that this achievement can only be gained during Rhines route, since during the other two routes she is injured and won’t play a part in the story.

There’s gonna be a couple of times where you can choose who to hang out with during free time in chapters 1 and 2. I would highly recommend picking hangouts that have Jean in them, however, if you don’t mind skipping out on cgs and story information limited to that specific character the game seems to have a lot of leeway and by focusing on one character of the route during chapter 1 and another one in chapter 2 you can trigger both of the invitations for that route, in which case I would highly suggest making a save right before accepting one in order to save on replays for that route.

Right before chapter 2 mission to retake Neo Hampshire you will be given a choice on either calling Doc or hanging out with one of the characters you got enough points with. Assuming you did well enough Jean will invite you for a private game of chess. Accept her invitation and when she asks you if you would be interested in playing with her again agree to it.

Rough Times

Go on an outing with Claine.

This achievement will automatically trigger after an outing with Claine during chapter 3: Dissonant Flames, assuming you picked her as your best friend.

Do note that this achievement can only be gained during Mondshire route, since during the other two routes she is captured as a POW and won’t play a part in the story.

There’s gonna be a couple of times where you can choose who to hang out with during free time in chapters 1 and 2. I would highly recommend picking hangouts that have Claine in them, however, if you don’t mind skipping out on cgs and story information limited to that specific character the game seems to have a lot of leeway and by focusing on one character of the route during chapter 1 and another one in chapter 2 you can trigger both of the invitations for that route, in which case I would highly suggest making a save right before accepting one in order to save on replays for that route.

Right before chapter 2 mission to retake Neo Hampshire you will be given a choice on either calling Doc or hanging out with one of the characters you got enough points with. Assuming you did well enough Claine will invite you to visit her room for some tea and reading. Accept the invitation and when she asks if you would ever want to join her again agree to the offer.

Moving Forwards

Go on an outing with Freija.

This achievement will automatically trigger after an outing with Freija during chapter 3: Dissonant Flames, assuming you picked her as your best friend.

Do note that this achievement can only be gained during the Icoros Novo route, since during the other two routes she isn’t interested in joining Sierra since you failed to entice her with scientific data discovery from strange ships.

There’s gonna be a couple of times where you can choose who to hang out with during free time in chapters 1 and 2. I would highly recommend picking hangouts that have Freija in them, however, if you don’t mind skipping out on cgs and story information limited to that specific character the game seems to have a lot of leeway and by focusing on one character of the route during chapter 1 and another one in chapter 2 you can trigger both of the invitations for that route, in which case I would highly suggest making a save right before accepting one in order to save on replays for that route.

Right before chapter 2 mission to retake Neo Hampshire you will be given a choice on either calling Doc or hanging out with one of the characters you got enough points with. Assuming you did well enough Freija will invite you to the LITE room for assistance regarding research. She will offer you to come visit her regularly to give your opinion on various projects and to uphold her promise of taking breaks occasionally. Accept that offer.

She is also unique in that you can choose if you are supportive of the “new” Freija or if you reminisce and miss the old one more. During my playthrough I chose a mix of the two and it seemed to change the hangout slightly, but to be sure you might want to pick more positive ones for the “new” one.

I Don’t Get You

Go on an outing with Ashton.

This achievement will automatically trigger after an outing with Ashton during chapter 3: Dissonant Flames, assuming you picked him as your best friend.

Do note that this achievement can only be gained during Mondshire route, since during the other two routes he is captured as a POW and won’t play a part in the story.

There’s gonna be a couple of times where you can choose who to hang out with during free time in chapters 1 and 2. Right before chapter 2 mission to retake Neo Hampshire you will be given a choice on either calling Doc or hanging out with one of the characters you got enough points with. Assuming you did well enough Ashton will invite you for a training session in the hanger. Accept that invitation and after getting your stars kicked in by him accept the invitation for another training session.

Goddess’ Grace

Go on an outing with Allen.

This achievement will automatically trigger after an outing with Allen during chapter 3: Dissonant Flames, assuming you picked him as your best friend.

Do note that this achievement can only be gained during Rhines route, since during the other two routes he is taking care of injured Jean and won’t play a part in the story.

There’s gonna be a couple of times where you can choose who to hang out with during free time in chapters 1 and 2. I would highly recommend picking hangouts that have Allen in them, however, if you don’t mind skipping out on cgs and story information limited to that specific character the game seems to have a lot of leeway and by focusing on one character of the route during chapter 1 and another one in chapter 2 you can trigger both of the invitations for that route, in which case I would highly suggest making a save right before accepting one in order to save on replays for that route.

Right before chapter 2 mission to retake Neo Hampshire you will be given a choice on either calling Doc or hanging out with one of the characters you got enough points with. Assuming you got enough points with Allen he will invite you for a meeting to discuss recent events. Accept the invitation and when he offers you to become his conversation partner accept the request.

Big Brother Fetish

Go on an outing with Rutherford.

This achievement will automatically trigger after an outing with Rutherford during chapter 3: Dissonant Flames, assuming you picked him as your best friend.

Do note that despite Rutherford being part of the Sierra crew in every single route and having hang out interactions in all of them you only get an option to become friends during the Icoros Novo route.

There’s gonna be a couple of times where you can choose who to hang out with during free time in chapters 1 and 2. I would highly recommend picking hangouts that have Rutherford in them, however if you don’t mind skipping out on cgs and story information limited to that specific character the game seems to have a lot of leeway and by focusing on one character of the route during chapter 1 and another one in chapter 2 you can trigger both of the invitations for that route, in which case I would highly suggest making a save right before accepting one in order to save on replays for that route.

Right before chapter 2 mission to retake Neo Hampshire you will be given a choice on either calling Doc or hanging out with one of the characters you got enough points with. Assuming you got enough points with Rutherford he invites you to come play cards with him and the engineering crew. Unlike every other route Rutherford won’t ask you if you want to continue hanging out, the friendship will just automatically proceed.

Poster Boy

Complete all achievements.

The achievement description is pretty self-explanatory. Complete every single achievement in episodes 1 and 2 and it will automatically trigger at the same time as the last one. Congratulations~!
