Tales & Tactics – Tips for Winning on Higher Difficulties

Higher Difficulties Tips

Scan enemy teams, be careful about positioning, check the boss in advance, as not all strategies work against every boss and they might require specific counter. Don’t hesitate to use item early, at worst you’ll need one gold to retrieve it, or sell the unit if you don’t intend to use it.

Use your health strategically. Losing a fight is fine and you should consider losing fights “voluntarily”. For example, if you can mae sure you only lose one fight in act 1 (before the boss) and buy one pale heart in the shop, you can essentially skip the boss.

Use your consumables on fights that could put you under dangerous lines, don’t necessarily keep them for the bosses.

I would recommend building a carry before focusing on your tanks, especially if you intend to win the bossfight, as your tanks won’t hold up on act 1, no matter what you build. There are some exception, mainly Xanathos where you can build a support instead with Oakenguard.

And in general, sometimes it’s just RNG, give it another go, I had runs with a T4 unit at the end of act 1, and others where I barely scrambled a single T2. Just keep trying.

Also, get an idea of which comps work (and don’t work) on act 1. Some comps are very good late (Mushroom) but really bad on act 1. I personally am a fervent user of Fae/Mage/Healer start, as it is really good at targeted damage, support and overall tanking ability.

Also, before the boss, when you get your choice of who you’ll fight, take into consideration short term. Gera, especially if you are on a boss you know to find really difficult.
