Rentals Guide
FAQ
When can I build rooms?
- You unlock the construction table as a reputation level 7 reward.
I just leveled up, why can’t I build another room?
- Not every level up reward includes an extra room. You only get them at these levels: 8, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19.
What’s the maximum amount of rooms I can build?
- At reputation level 19, you can build a total of 8 rooms.
What do I need for a rental room?
- Rentals require 4 objects: bed, table, chair, and light source.
Is there any other light source besides a candle?
- The only one the rentals will count is a lantern (and it’s only a wall item as well).
The tutorial made me create a crafting room upstairs, what do I do with it? Can I change it into a rental?
- Whatever you want to do with the room is up to you! You can have a kitchen upstairs for whatever if you’d like or you can change it into a rental. If you want to change it into a rental, you’ll need to remove the crafting zone and change out the door to a rental door.
Gameplay Tips
You don’t have to worry about not being able to afford the housekeeper! You should always make profit even with her hired.
Remember: She gets paid per room and not per hour, so you can keep her on with 0 worry.
Note: To make rental rooms (or any rooms with doors anywhere in the tavern), the doorways require a “hallway” at least 2 tiles deep (you can make it longer if you’d like but the minimum is 2 tiles).
Also, building upstairs (even at times, downstairs) can be a bit of a hassle at first, but I’ve included a couple samples of how rooms can look down the hallway upstairs (it doesn’t have to be exact, but it should help guide you when stuck).
Size is a secondary factor in the starting renting price of the room, comfort is the bigger player.
A good strategy is to aim for as much wall space as possible for decorative wall items that add more comfort rating, which increase income.
