Truck Racer – How to Fix Crash to Desktop Issue

In this guide I would like to recap all the solutions seen in different threads and my own experience how to fix crashing game launcher.

Crash to Desktop Fix Guide

Problem Description

When You try to run the game white and black screen appears and it always crashes to the desktop. Then game launcher sticks to the taskbar even before game load properly.

When You click on it process starts again and You have to shut down the game’s process in task manager.

Solution

Try to verify integrity of game files.

If nothing changes go to:

• Steam/steamapps/common/Truck Racer

Right click TruckRacer.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility -> tick ‘Disable Fullscreen Optimizations’ -> Apply -> OK.

If this won’t help:

• Untick the previous box.
• Uninstall the game.
• Delete TruckRacer game folder from Documents\My Games\TruckRacer.
• Go to: Steam/steamapps/common/Truck Racer.
• Open TruckRacing.cfg file.
• Ctrl + F and type phrase ‘Fullscreen:’ (21st line).
• Replace phrase ‘true’ to ‘false’.
• Save the file.
• Install the game again.
• Start the game.

And it should work. You can change graphics and relaunch the game again.
