Your best bet if you’re having trouble with him is to go after him with the evolved forms of the Laurel and Clock Lancet. Call it cheesy but it will work.
Otherwise come at it with a good AOE weapon set as most, if not all, skeletons who touch the ball will result in it healing and growing larger.
Death Spiral and/or La Bora (evolved Ax and Holy Water) with the right combo of passives can work wonders with keeping the hordes of regular enemies at bay.
Note: Otherwise, stay away from him as much as possible to prevent anything spawning near him. He will absorb anything he hits and grow massive so stay away from him, evolve all your weapons and then run down. Try to kill stuff near him to prevent him from absorbing them if possible.
