What is Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodhunt?

Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodhunt — a new royal battle in the universe of the “World of Darkness”. Its distinctive feature from other representatives of the genre is the absence of huge spaces and an abundance of places for ambushes , as well as characters with unique skills.

In other words, you will not be able to sit out the whole game in the bushes, waiting until the enemies kill each other, then finish off the remaining ones. To win, you will have to use your character’s skills, weapons and environment as thoughtfully as possible.

Clans and Characters

Brute is the Bloodhunt version of the tank. This class is a “defender on the front line” who “stands up for his allies, keeping enemies at a distance.”

  • Clan Skill: Soaring jump – allows you to make a powerful leap forward.
  • Passive skill: True Brute – allows you to replenish up to half of your health without taking damage.
  • Archetype Skill: Shock Wave Shock – release a shock wave capable of deflecting bullets.

Vandal is a melee character, Bloodhunt calls them “reckless brawlers”. “A huge force is channeled through the vandal’s fist, forcing him to approach the battle and become a dangerous enemy with increased defense and crushing power.”

  • Clan Skill: Soaring jump – allows you to make a powerful leap forward.
  • Passive skill: Adrenaline Rush – The character receives moderate damage resistance when in close proximity to enemies.
  • Archetype Skill: Earth Shock – jump forward and crash into the ground, dealing damage and knocking enemies up.

Saboteurs are trap characters. “Passing through the Shadows, the Saboteur uses protective devices to punish reckless enemies.”

  • Clan Skill: Disappearing – allows you to become invisible and move quickly for a short time.
  • Passive skill: Invisible Passage – allows you to become semi-invisible when squatting.
  • Archetype Skill: Sewer Bomb – allows you to throw a bomb that explodes and releases toxic gas when enemies approach.

Prowler – Bloodhunt tracker, “merciless hunter”. “Having mastered the creature of nature, as well as the Monster inside, the marauder gains unprecedented abilities to track down and detect his enemies.”

  • Clan Skill: Disappearing – allows you to become invisible and move quickly for a short time.
  • Passive skill: Feel the beast – heavily wounded enemies leave a trail that shows their recent movement.
  • Archetype Skill: Bat Scouting – send bats to scout the area, temporarily detecting enemies through walls.

Siren is a “stunning beauty” Bloodhunt and support class. “The tempters are always looking for a new opportunity to leave their enemies blinded by the mere sight of their beauty.”

  • Clan Skill: Projection/Jerk – Send your projection to which you can move.
  • Passive skill: Fellow amulets – the surrounding civilians will be enchanted, which will temporarily force them to behave friendly towards you and your team.
  • Archetype Skill: Blinding Beauty – Slowly transform into pure beauty, blinding and damaging all nearby enemies.

Muses are mostly healers, as they have a “rejuvenating effect”. “Whenever the allies hesitate, the Muse runs to the rescue and inspires them to go into battle again with her charming song.”

  • Clan Skill: Projection/Jerk – Send your projection to which you can move.
  • Passive skill: The final act is to instantly update the cooldown of your abilities, which allows you to use abilities when you are shot down.
  • Archetype Skill: Rejuvenating Voice – Enter a restorative state that heals you and your closest allies. Taking damage or using force while maintaining interrupts the healing state.

Newbie Enforcer during a skirmish can make the skin marble, which is why it is not easy to break through it. It is necessary to go on the attack, as the effect disappears, but this is enough to survive an unexpected attack and go on a counterattack. Plus, the character hangs debuffs on enemies nearby and is able to make a jerk that weakens everyone who gets in the way.

  • Clan Skill: Marble Flesh – briefly strengthens your skin, granting invulnerability as long as you don’t attack anyone.
  • Passive skill: Conquering presence – the speed of movement of nearby enemies decreases. Ventra is also recognized when an enemy is in the range of their charisma.
  • Archetype Skill: Unrestrained onslaught – make a dash forward to deal moderate damage for a short time and subdue enemies. Subdued enemies cannot use vampire powers while the effect is in effect.

Your opponents will be other players. But besides them, you will also face computer-controlled opponents. They are soldiers of the “Department”. Alas, they are not as dangerous as it might seem from the first trailers, but they still add some zest.

There are a dozen places in Prague that are patrolled by skilled fighters. Due to the fact that the soldiers do not leave the post, in theory you can not even encounter them. But there is a reason to go into the lion’s mouth yourself. The fact is that The “department” guards special boxes where valuable guns are hidden . If you steal an epic revolver from there, it will be easier to survive.

In addition to soldiers and players, the game also has townspeople. They are needed in order to restore health and receive various types of bonuses, depending on the archetype of a person. With each absorption, you will receive one bonus charge. The more charges, the greater the beneficial effect. There are 4 types of bonuses in total:

  • Choleric – increases melee damage.
  • Sanguine – restores a little health every second.
  • Melancholic – accelerates the cooldown of clan skills.
  • Phlegmatic – accelerates the cooldown of class skills.

If you didn’t get a bonus after the takeover, it means you got a person without an archetype, or you already have all the bonus cells occupied.

At the beginning of the match, you will have only 3 cells for bonuses. Later you will be able to increase their number by carrying out a special finishing of the player . Because of this restriction, it is necessary to collect only those bonuses that your class needs. For example, if you play as a vampire from the Bruja clan, then Cholerics will be useful to you. And if you play as a Saboteur or a Prowler, then you should pay attention to the Sanguine and Melancholic.

It is also important to kill citizens only by drinking their blood. If you kill a person with a weapon, you will become visible to enemies for a whole minute. The same thing will happen if mortals see you while eating a human.

As in other games in the genre of battle royale, there are a lot of firearms. In addition to the differences in the types of weapons, there are also differences in quality. The higher the rarity of the weapon, the stronger it is. There are 4 degrees of rarity of weapons in total. Green, blue, purple and yellow. The first three often fall off soldiers or are found in antique and tailor shops. The rarest yellow can only be obtained from a chest guarded by a group of soldiers.

Types of weapons

  • Paired pistols — dangerous near, but useless at medium and long distances. They rarely have increased magazines, fast reload speed and slightly increased damage.
  • Submachine gun — copes well with enemies at close range and has a large supply of ammunition. If you aim well, you can even do decent damage.
  • Assault rifle — differs from a submachine gun only in increased efficiency at long distances.
  • Shooting and Sniper rifles — can boast of high damage and high critical damage when hit in the head. The problem is that due to the very fast movement speed of the players, it will be difficult for you to hit the head. If you fail to eliminate the enemy quickly and he gets closer to you, then you will almost certainly lose the battle.
  • Revolver — the gameplay is very similar to Sniper rifles. It differs from them by reduced recoil and increased efficiency at short distances.
  • Semi—automatic rifle – has good damage and high accuracy. You can switch between several shooting modes – single and queue.
  • Light machine gun — very effective at close range. Accuracy increases as you shoot.
  • Minigun — very similar to a light machine gun, but instead of accuracy when firing, the rate of fire increases. It has a 300-round magazine that cannot be reloaded.
  • Semi-automatic machine gun — has two firing modes. In the long-range shooting mode, the rate of fire is lower, but the accuracy is higher, and in the melee mode, the rate of fire is doubled. As with all machine guns, the only problems with this weapon are reloading and rarity.
  • Heavy crossbows — shoots one large arrow, which explodes on impact and forms a cloud of toxic gas. Most of the damage is caused by gas, which makes this weapon very specific. It also makes it difficult to use the fact that the arrows fly in an arc, which means that this weapon is useless at long distances. If you still want to use crossbows, then combine them with other weapons that can finish off an enemy wounded by gas.
  • Paired crossbows — have even less damage than a regular crossbow, but a higher rate of fire. They also do not create a gas cloud.
  • Shotguns — have huge damage, but effective only when fighting face to face.
  • Bat and axe — like all melee weapons, replace fists. Use melee weapons only in critical situations, as they will always be inferior to any firearm.
  • Katana — allows you to reflect bullets back into the enemy.
  • Blades — allow you to make a dash forward and deliver very fast blows.

In addition to weapons, the game also has consumables. They are first aid kits, armor and ammunition scattered in the same places. The armor in this game works as an additional health scale, and is also not put on automatically. Having picked it up, you will need to go to the inventory and equip the armor. The same applies to first aid kits. These actions take time, so use consumables on the move or in secluded places.

After the player’s health drops to zero, he must be finished off. If you do not have time to do it in the allotted time, then he will recover and will be able to attack you again. You can finish off the enemy with both conventional weapons and using special finishing. For him, you need to come close to the defeated enemy and press the appropriate button. For each finishing you will receive a bonus cell. Keep in mind that performing such finishing you are vulnerable. In a late game, it is better not to use it, as other enemies may be nearby and take advantage of your position.

As a starting point, you can choose any point on the map , except for those where high-level loot appears. As a rule, at the beginning of the match, all your attention will be focused on the battle, and rarely the equipment will be given to the one who came to this point later, bypassing protracted battles.

It is also worth being wary of points with the Department , since clusters of soldiers live there. If you are playing as an attacking class or with allies, then, on the contrary, you should start at such a point. Thus, at the very beginning of the game you will be able to get a weapon not lower than the blue degree of rarity.

General Tips for the Game

  • Pay attention to details and sounds. in the game there are a huge number of ways to detect an enemy without a mark on the map. To do this, it is enough to pay attention to the sounds of shooting or the destroyed environment. It is also worth paying attention to the weapons scattered on the ground. Some rare specimens cannot just appear on earth. The same applies to a regular pistol, since it is a starting weapon. If you notice any of these things, then you should look for an opponent nearby.
  • Think over your movement — the mechanics of movement in the game are as well thought out as the mechanics of shooting. In other words, effective movement is just as useful as the ability to shoot well. Jumping while sliding will give you the opportunity to jump a longer distance than usual, and when sliding down a slope you will be able to jump even further.
  • Don’t let yourself be discovered — if your location is revealed, experienced players are guaranteed to take advantage of this to kill you. To remain unnoticed, move on the roofs and stay away from cars, as they have an alarm system.
