The year is 518. The Crown has put an end to the Mage Wars, the uprising of the rebel magicians. It was a futile triumph, though, as entire areas have descended into chaos, refugees are roving the countryside in want of safety, and a terrible sickness known as the “Bloodburn” has emerged and is consuming large areas of the country.
