General Tips

In Calderia you will not be a dull ruler, but a real leader who leads his family. Each of your relatives has their own set of unique personality traits and desires. It will take some time to finally identify all the woes and cons, to give the right role to each one, according to their capabilities and abilities.

Important! Personality, as in real life, changes under the influence of circumstances. Especially when they are directly related to a particular family member.

When managing key operations, choose a family member with the ability to increase production and keep the population happy in your fiefdom.

In other words, if you manage your family effectively, it will ensure your success.

You cannot be successful at only one thing. Always look for a balance between combat success, economics, and diplomacy, which will be the successful components of your strategy. Intrigue, diplomacy and trade always go hand in hand. Any decision during a battle or during a negotiation can drastically change the course of history.

To get new titles, you will not be able to avoid battles. Prepare and plan your battles. Real-time tactical battles will be a good basis for further career growth in the multi-level hierarchy of Calderia.

Traditions and values to contribute to history

You should definitely outline your family’s traditions, values, and goals to lay a foundation in history and heritage (the canvass of your game). Use mods to expand your family’s genealogical lore.

How to get new agents and units

This directly depends on the sophistication of the infrastructure. The more developed a region is, the higher the number of inhabitants, the more productive the production. But in addition to that, you have new opportunities in the form of unique agents (social conflicts) and new types of units (periods of war).

Character Guide

Every time you do a “appeal for rank” action in the game, you have the opportunity to advance one attribute by one level. Since it’s a social conflict, you should evaluate the strength of your character as well as the character of your companions.

You can access this kind of action by going to Diplomacy->appeal for rank.

After you choose your character, he takes off!

To add more pals, you can also pay extra coins. (helpful if you lack strength)

The quality is arbitrary. To explore the limitations of your character’s qualities and develop new abilities, you can load and save a few days before your character arrives in the town.

It should be noted that houses with higher ranks typically have more buildings, which makes it more difficult to prevail in social conflicts. In the future, a handbook on social conflicts will be added.

Gameplay FAQ

Will there be weather effects that affect certain aspects of the game such as resource production or battles?

Never say never, but for now we won’t have weather effects that affect gameplay.

How many other houses apart from yours would there be?

There will be around 30-40 houses in Calderia

Will you conquer other cities?

Each fiefdom has one city. You don’t really conquer cities per se, but you can subjugate them. This means, that you won’t be micro-managing multiple different cities, but they’ll pay taxes to you etc.

Are there some religion mechanics?

Religion will be part of the Calderian society but for the moment there won’t be any game mechanics related to religion (maybe later on…)

Will you have firearm units?

There is no gunpowder in the world of Calderia. Hence the advanced engineering (compared to early Renaissance standards) and ‘da Vinci-esque’ designs of weapons, like catapults and crossbows and bows with clips etc.

Is multiplayer planned?

Sadly there won’t be a multiplayer planned at all.

Will there be mods or a modding tool in the game?

Yes, you will be able to download the Great Houses of Calderia Mod Kit online and share new content on different platforms. While we plan to have a first mod kit available at the Early Access release, we won’t use Steam Workshop implementation for now.

On which OS the game will be available?

Great Houses of Calderia will be playable on Windows 10 and 11.
