Bloons TD5 – Comprehensive Achievement Guide

A comprehensive guide designed to maximise your completion rate compared to time invested. BTD5 is a very grindy game, so for those of you who wish to get theachievements in the most efficient way possible, I will tell you how in here.

Introduction

All credit goes to Enkazadas the Grandest Magus !

If you’re here, you’re here for efficiency. You might have taken a look at the maps and thought “whoa, that’s a lot”, looked at the in-game achievement vault and thought “hey, not all of these are on Steam”, or perhaps you’ve even just decided to come here preemptively. Either way, welcome. I’ll break everything down into sections, and suggest efficient, optimal pathing for each. There are two things of note:

  • This is not a game-play guide. This is intended to offer guidance and suggest a pathway to accomplish 100% efficiently. BTD5 is not a hard game, and there are plenty of guides that cover actual game-play. This is just pathing, collation and data.
  • Everything here has been tested. You can follow these steps with confidence, in the knowledge that this will work, and get you everything that you seek. If I’ve messed something up, which I shouldnt’ve, but I may have – please post a comment and i’ll be sure to investigate ASAP. I’m writing this to help people, not misinform.

Achievements Earned by Proxy

To explain what I mean by this – these achievements will be obtained by just playing the game. You should get all of these over the course of playing the game, and they don’t require any special tactics or specific efforts to achieve. That list consists of the following:

MOAB Assassin, BFB Brawler and ZOMGinator

I think it would be basically impossible for you to not manage to accomplish these during the course of playing all the levels you need to on the appropriate difficulties, but if you’re missing some, it’s worth noting that the best way would be to play any level into freeplay, and stack up super powered towers to deal with all the ZOMG. Destroying 1000 ZOMG will also mean you’ve destroyed 4000 BFB and therefore 16000 MOAB, so as you can see, you’ll be fine just focusing on the ZOMG.

Infrared, Hard Baked and Impoppable

From MOAB alone under the previous section you’d be breaking 64000 ceramic bloons, which takes up a significant chunk of the total amount needed – but don’t worry, again, free play can help if you’re behind in any way by the end. For camo, the Covert Pops special mission is the best call. You shouldn’t be behind by the time you’ve done all the tracks, but if you are – those are the best ways.

A Token of My Affection, Role Reverser, Poppable and Night Impoppable

You’ll have 50 tokens before being finished with even half of the required beginner tracks. Reversal and the Impoppable achievements need to be obtained in order to unlock Mastery Mode, which is a prerequisite for some other achievements – you won’t need to go for these specifically.

Achievements Earned by Spending Currency

There are two achievements that you should be able to obtain by course of playing the game and going about the various activities. It’s worth noting that the “Double Cash” bonus from the top left building will also double all monkey money earned, so it’s well worth the investment. Those achievements are:

Ultimate Agent

This is obtained by using each special agent (Barring the Ninja Kiwi) enough times to unlock it’s Pro Variant. The progress bar is located beneath each agent on their purchase page. They do not have to do anything, simply placing and then selling them, or restarting the map, will increment the counter. free Agents from Special Missions do not count, but other sources of Free Special Agents should. To straight-out buy enough agents to unlock all the needed pros, you’ll need 35050 Monkey Money.

Ultimate Specialist

This is obtained by fully upgrading every specialist building available. Simply unlock each level of upgrade with monkey money, and you’ll have this achievement. Specialist buildings are useful tools to have while going for other achievements, so they’re well worth the investment. The total cost for all the upgrades is 80500 Monkey Money.

Special Missions

Special Missions are accessed through the “Special Missions” option in the main play menu. Some of them can be a little tricky, but most can be done without incident. That covers these achievements:

Special Missions

  • Isn’t That Special
  • Wizard Lord
  • Short-Lived
  • Highlander
  • No Escape
  • Fast Track
  • Covert Pops
  • Protect Monkey Town
  • Full House
  • MOAB Madness
  • Mission Accomplished

However, this doesn’t mean we’re done with Special Missions. There’s one achievement aside from these best done in a special mission:

Steeley

A monstrously bloated achievement, due to the fact that lead bloons simply don’t spawn much on higher difficulties compared to others. The best way to grind out whatever remainder you have for this achievement is to play “Wizard Lord”, due to it having the highest density to time ratio of lead bloons. You’re not going to get this in normal play, but i’d advise waiting until the end of your completion journey before finishing this one just to cut down on the grind.

Daily and Random Missions

Daily and Random missions aren’t too bad, but they can be a bit of a pain to accomplish. First, let’s tackle the random mission – which, IMO, are the worst part of the game.

Somewhat Random, Increasingly Random, Persistently Random, Amazingly Random and Entirely Random

There are exactly 250 Random Missions under the Random Missions category. Simply complete all of them, and there you go. This amounts to 250 games of bloons, in scenarios that range in difficulty and length. This will take quite a lot of time, and while most aren’t all that hard, there are some stinkers. I suggest sprinkling these in over time, rather than marathoning them all at once – barring some save instability concerns or having a marked decline in self-preservation. You can use the button next to the mission icon to switch to another, but you’ll still have to do the annoying one at some point. I would strongly advise against pressing the button in the bottom left of the screen on the Random Missions menu – I don’t know how resetting all that progress interacts with the achievement, but i’m fairly certain only the first time completing one counts. By default, if you don’t reset it, you’ll only get missions you’ve never done pushed at you – so keep cool, and focus on doing whatever pops up.

As for Daily missions:

4 Of A Kind, Perfect Week and Centurion

Daily challenges are issued at a rate of one per difficulty per day. Simply complete every daily challenge every day for 25 days, and you’ll have all of the achievements. Repeating the daily challenge does not count for any of them, so these must be done on 25 separate days – no shenanigans. Don’t be afraid to use Monkey Money to re-roll a mission to something more appealing, but do bear in mind – once a mission has been entered, it is locked for the rest of that day. Unfortunately, you must do these daily missions seven days in a row for Perfect Week (be sure to start when it says you have enough days remaining, your streak will be broken otherwise).

Olympian Achievements and “All Upgrade” Achievements

This is the main meat of the guide. While every map has it’s own Olympian achievement in-game, that isn’t the case for Steam. Furthermore, in order to complete monkey lab research, you must unlock all the “Mastery” modes for the different difficulty levels of maps. This is intended to be a perfect list that encapsulates every single Olympian Achievement, and also covers all the medals and maps needed for unlocking “Mastery” modes – which allow you to get the upgrade achievements.

Important Note! For all of the listed maps, you must gain five medals – the Reverse, Easy, Medium, Hard and Impoppable medals. I suggest doing Reverse mode along with Easy difficulty, and enabling it for whatever maps that it’s easier for you to defend on when going backwards. This means you’ll only have to play each map four times total. 10 mode is not needed.

Consequently, this is the list of maps that you should complete to obtain all the Olympian achievements and unlock all the mastery modes:

In addition, after completing all of these, you will (after completing the last track) unlock all the mastery modes, allowing you to purchase all 13 ranks of each of the researches, giving you the Moneybags, Pointy Bits, Fast And Furious, MOAB Mauler, Long Lived, Monkey Tycoon and Always On Achievements (You should have enough tokens by now, if not, you can exchange monkey money for tokens in the top left building).

Co-op Olympian Tracks

Finally, we arrive at the last selection of achievements related to 100% completion on Steam – the Co-op tracks. Same deal as above, i’ll break them down into sections for easy reading but – importantly to note – you need only do these tracks on Easy, Medium and Hard. You do not need to do these on Impoppable, Reverse or 10, meaning only a total of 90 games. If you need help, don’t be afraid to ask in the forums or on Reddit, the Bloons community is very friendly.
