Guide to Avoid Threats

Сrеdit gоеs to !

Introduction

I will do my best to guide you to avoid threats and beat the game. Since the game has just been released, there may be some inaccuracies.

Avoiding Noir

Noir is an extremely mysterious Shadow Web-based cult that uses The Prey as a front. In-game they’re represented by two of their followers, a male/female couple.

Male Noir

Male Noir spawns in your apartment and at the rooftop.

He will spawn in the following locations:

  • In front of the TV
  • Middle of your house
  • Next to the PC
  • Behind the sofa
  • At the rooftop
  • +2 Spawn Locations That Are Unknown

To Avoid Male Noir

When you see him, flash your light on him. Turn around, count to ten. Then he will be gone.

Female Noir

Female Noir spawns in corridors and the rooftop. She can spawn in any corridor inside the building. Including yours.

When leaving the apartment, always look to your left first, if you don’t it could get you killed!

To Avoid Female Noir

When you see her, get close to her. When she tilts her head, stop. Turn around, and DO NOT touch your mouse. After she says “don’t move” count to ten. Then she will be gone. I repeat, do not touch your mouse at all.

Avoiding Lucas

Lucas is a bald, heavily tattooed Caucasian man sharply dressed in a black suit with matching gloves. He’s armed with a suppressor-fitted pistol and a sniper rifle, and speaks in his native language of Polish.

To avoid Lucas, do the following:

  • Check the windows of your apartment periodically to see if there is any laser. If there is any, see below.
  • While on the roof, watch for lasers. If there is any, see below.
  • Make sure that your apartments door is locked.
  • When you leave your apartment, be sure to close the door behind you.

If any of the above happened:

I saw a laser in my apartment.

Do not panic. Do not stay still. Do not turn on your flashlight when you’re running around. Use your flashlight for a split second, if you need it. Turn off some lights if you are able to. Then you can hide in your bathtub, or under your bed. Wait time depends on how many lights are off. The more light is off, the quicker he gives up.

I saw a laser on the rooftop.

I got my package/fixed the antenna.

If you are close to the elevator, you can run to the elevator and block his view. Do not stay still. Do not turn on your flashlight when you’re running around. Use your flashlight for a split second, if you need it.

I am next to the package or the antenna.

There is a hiding spot near the package and the antenna. While hiding, you are able to peek. But peek only if you need to. Do not peek to much or he will see and shoot you.

Avoiding Mr. Delfalco

Mr. Delfalco is like “The Doll Maker” from WTTG 2. There is a way to avoid him and not seeing him entire game, but only the developer of the game knows how to do that. I will add them when I find out.

I saw a man with a black straw hat and a long sleeved black jacket.

He is Mr Delfalco. You can not report him. He will just stand there and stare at you menacingly until you switch your camera. He is a cleaner. He cleans bodies, and he never leaves trace. Since you saw him, he will try to kill you.

What do I do now?

He will try to hunt you down until the end of your shift. You can encounter him in several conditions. Each has its own method of avoidance.

In your apartment:

If you hear a whistle, that means he is about to enter your apartment and kill you. When you hear it, get up and turn off some lights if you are able to. It will make him give up sooner. It is not necessary to turn off the lights. Hide under your bed, and wait for him to leave.

On the rooftop:

If you hear a sound from the elevator, run to a hiding spot. He will roam around and see if you are there. It’s just that.

Approaching to a corridor after seeing him on the camera:

He will spawn on every floor except yours. When delivering a package, do not waste your stamina. You will need it. Walk to the door where you will deliver the package. He will spawn when you approach the middle of the corridor. If you see a door opening in front of you, turn around and run to the elevator. He won’t chase you after entering the elevator.

As I said in the introduction, there is no guarantee that this information is 100% accurate. I am sorry for any inconvenience you may experience due to this.

  1. Helpful tip – I had both Noir in my apartment (directly behind computer) and Lucas aiming with the rifle at one point. As far as I can tell, so long as you walk around Noir carefully, you should still be able to safely hide from Lucas and then deal with Noir after the laser is gone.

I don’t know if you can get rid of Noir first; I didn’t risk it since I know waiting too long means you get shot lol

  2. 9. NOIR TAKES PRIORITY OVER A DOORLOCK
If you are walking to or from the doorlock, always glance at the couch or bedroom doorways. If you see NOIR, ALWAYS play their game first. They don’t like it when you disrespect their game, no matter if it’s for good security reasons.

    10. STARTING THE GAME
While you can get your flashlight right away, some other interesting notes. The first “immediate danger” events start at 11am, never before. Don’t know if doorlocks are required before 11am (Need to science this) The initial package event is almost always around 10:30ish. And you can expect 2-3 other non-dangerous events before 11, such as doorlock changes or camera malfunctions

    11. DEFALCO IS CONSISTENT
It seems he’s almost always arriving to a camera around 11:34. He can be earlier or later I hear, but I’ve only see 11:34 if a person is actively checking cameras at that time.

That’s some neat notes I have that may improve your guide.

  3. 6. MR. DEFALCO DOES NOT LINGER
After you run, the elevator returns to the 9th floor. You can return immediately and deliver the package if you still have time to deliver it as he doesn’t linger there.

    7. LUCAS SEARCH TIMER AVERAGE:
It’s said that with all lights off it can be 45 seconds to wait. However, only the frontroom and bedroom lights are consistently able to avoid the laser after 60 seconds of waiting under the bed. (Might I suggest a phone timer?)

    8. LUCAS HAS MORE THAN A SNIPER RIFLE, DOORLOCK mechanic
There should be a mention in this guide about reseting the door lock. It is the other way Lucas can approach. While I don’t know how long after a door unlock he will come.. I do know that over 16 sniper attempts, 14 of them were ~20-30 minutes after a doorlock change, and 2 of them were within 2-3 minutes. (Each minute in game is 15 seconds) It would make sense that he wouldn’t need the sniper rifle if he could just go into the door, so take that as you will.

  4. 4. NOIR IN APARTMENT
It would be VERY nice to have screen shots of every NOIR spawn location, especially in the bedroom.

    5. LIGHTS OFF EVENT WHEN APPROACHING AN ELEVATOR
There is an event that triggers when you are 1-2 feet from the elevator.. JUST out of reach of the buttons. The lights will turn off, Male NOIR will be in front of you, and you need to stop immediately when the lights turn off and play his game. This means that unless you got a certain man chasing you, you should make it a habit to WALK to the elevator the last few steps, ready to stop at a moment’s notice or get instakilled in the dark

  5. LIGHT LOCATIONS
    1. There are lights in the bathroom, kitchen, computer desk, frontroom corner, computer room wall (By door) and bedroom wall (By door). The more lights you have off, the higher chance you spawn Noir. The more lights you have on, the higher chance you spawn Lucas and increases his search timer it seems.

    2. SPECULATION ABOUT NOIR vs LIGHTS: Curious how the lights being off affect the time it takes for NOIR to kill you after they arrive? With all lights on, it takes about 5-6 in game minutes for them to spawn to when they will kill you it seems (Unconfirmed, but data suggests that from plays that I’ve seen) I wonder if that time shrinks if you have more lights off.

    3. LUCAS SEARCH TIMER CAN RESET:
When you leave the hiding spot while he is hunting with his laser, the “search timer” resets to 0. So if you leave too early, too often, you can chain him to infinity. This often creates a situation where it feels like he’s searching forever.

    • UPD: he camped me for 10 minutes and then I tried to run to the elevator and I just got assassinated in a hallway. Is it intended to be like that? Playing on a normal by the way.

  6. There is another threat, try not to stream the game. We are still unsure if Adam himself is a threat in the game.

  7. I think that you can get sniped by Lucas only after 11 PM. So during the first hour of your shift you don’t have to worry about him.

Also what happened to me once is that I went to the roof to get a package and he personally jumpscared me right at the elevator exit and I have no idea how to avoid this or why it happened. Any ideas? Also it was after 11 PM.
