Emergency 4 Deluxe – How to Change Camera Keybinds

Emergency 4 being released in 2006 was created around camera controls based on the arrow keys. Most people in the modern era prefer WASD or in rare cases other types of binds. This guide will help you change your keybinds for the camera and even more functions.

If you have experience in browsing files on steam you can skip the first 3 steps. I am very bad at drawing with a mouse so pls forgive me.

Ignore i cut the file last modified dates i am big dumb.

I know TheNorthernAlex has a tutorial on this, but i felt this would be a more digestible format.

Step 1

Sadly unlike most games there is no menu to change it. Therefore, you must go down the fire rabbit hole.

First step is to right click on your Emergency 4 directory and click properties.

Next you click local files.

Step 3

Then you need to click browse.

Step 4

Then click data.

Step 5

Next you scroll down to Specs.

Step 6

Scroll down to the file “keys.xml” and you need to rename this file to “keys.txt”.

This should be what your file looks like after it is renamed.

Then you need to click on it.

Step 7

Now you need to rename the files i have highlighted to the correct keybind. The keys in the very rough rectangle are the keys that you need to change. (note i already have my keybinds changed to the WASD layout).

After that you need to rename your file to “keys.xml” and your done!
