Atomic Picnic – Useful Tips and Tricks

Tips and Tricks

If you are solo, weapons such as the Shotgun and Grenade Launcher are going to make this game a lot more difficult as these weapons feel more balanced around coop gameplay instead of solo. Assault Rifle is the best weapon to go with.

There is an orange currency you can collect from Gem Nodes on the ground around the world. These transfer over to the main menu and can be used in the Upgrades section of the menu. These upgrades are very helpful. Make sure you die before leaving the game as pressing the Leave button will lose all progression from that session for some odd reason…

Everything in game, except for your character level, is based on the timer at the top middle of the screen. Meaning that enemies leveling up, enemy types spawning, better Gem nodes spawning, and world drops such as shops and health vials are all based on how much time has passed. Sometimes it can be better to wait before killing enemies as you will get more levels before the miniboss spawns, however it will be harder to not die to those enemies.

Firing your weapon will slow down your movement speed. Sometimes it is better off to not shoot and to move to a better position.

Kite your mobs before shooting them. No matter the weapon you are using, you will want to kite mobs around you to get them into one cluster. This is especially needed for the flying enemies as they will shoot at you fast from multiple angles.

Never stop moving and keep your head on a swivel. No matter what do not stop moving around, even if you are making circles in the ground. All it takes is a second for an enemy to spawn behind you and knock a chunk of health off of you. Also make sure to look around as you are moving or attacking enemies. You may think you see all of the enemies that spawned, but there just may be some spawning on your sides.

For anyone who wants to beat the miniboss “Little Mac” solo, make sure you have Cryo Grenades on and either an Assault Rifle or Sniper Rifle on. Go to an area of the map with a bit of elevation variation and what you are gonna do is parkour around and trade grounds with the boss until he is on the low ground and you are on the high ground. Then throw a Cryo Grenade on it and beam it until his aura comes close to you. Jump off the high ground and start parkouring until you can get into the same position again and repeat.

If you want to just collect resources for Upgrades, start a run and just move around the map. Wait for the timer to hit around the 5-10 minute mark and the Gem Nodes should be spawning more gems. It’s great to have the perk Teddy Bear as it creates a damaging aura around you that will destroy the Gem Nodes for you without having to slow down by shooting them. Make sure you keep running forward around the entire map destroying every node you see. When you are done, make sure to die and not press the Leave button as there is an issue that deletes the progress from that session.

Look around for swirling aura colored beams of light. There will be some next to a shop icon, but the ones you are looking for are the ones that cost health. Use these whenever you can as these will make a difference.
