In Balatro there are three very important things to pay attention to:
- Making sure you have good jokers and a good build. If you dont know when to swap out jokers to upgrade your build, its going to be the first thing to learn once downloading the game.
- Managing your income and interest properly, and making sure you have good economy cards in the early game. Egg doesnt really count unless youre just using it for sell value and planning to use it to buff sacrificial dagger down the line.
- Mult and chip scaling, using cards such as supernova, ride the bus, or bull. Having cards that get better over time is imperative for your run, as if your build is struggling with low level ante, you should probably rethink your playstyle.
Once youve got a hang of these fundamental gameplay mechanics, reaching and defeating ante 8 should come very easily, and you can start having fun with harder colors and challenges.
I personally recommend using the yellow deck as soon as you unlock it, as it gives you such a vital boost to your eco in the early game, that if you use it properly ante 1-4 should be a walk in the park.
