This is a very simple step-by-step guide on how to get the Some Men Want To Watch The World Burn achievement.
This isn’t a difficult guide, but there’s no other resources about the achievement online, or that info is outdated/misleading, so I made this guide.
Prerequisites

To get any of the recruitment-related achievements in Barotrauma, you need a high reputation with that faction. “High” varies between Friendly to Revered. You should shoot for Revered reputation for this achievement.
Next, you need to visit a station of that faction. Finally, you just need to get lucky. Sometimes an event appears that kick starts the quest or chain of quests required for the achievement(s).
In our case, we need a high reputation with the Separatists, and we need to visit Separatist stations.
Thankfully, we don’t need to rely on an event, per se, for this achievement. You’ll get the quest from outpost managers (the people who give out jobs).
They’ll give you a long-winded explanation of the job, which involves a jailbreak. The mission will generate in the world map.
With this, all we have to do is go to the labeled station and…
Jailbreak
The actual jailbreak is really rather easy.
All you have to do is find a jail cell (typically a door with a remote button locking it), talk to Sootman (our target for this Jailbreak), and let the rest of the event play out.
In the case of this event, Sootman will follow you near the entrance to your submarine before interrupting you and running off. He basically starts a fire in the Outpost Manager’s room and leaves.
It goes without saying, but if a mod or something strange happens and Sootman is wounded/incapacitated, heal him. If he dies, you fail the mission (and have to retry).
Do not leave the station yet!
After some time, he will begin to follow you again. Lead him into your submarine. When the job is marked as completed, you’re free to go.
You will not get the achievement yet, as you’ve yet to actually recruit Sootman.
This comes later. For now, keep traveling, trying to go to as many Separatist outposts as you can and keeping an eye out for events.
Hiring Sootman
After saving Sootman successfully, you’re bound to meet him at a Separatist station. Keep an eye out for him, as he will give you the event to recruit him. Once you accept, the achievement pops.
Congratulations! You’ve gotten this rather strange and rare achievement!
For those interested, Sootman is an Engineer with the bonus talents: Military Applications, Lone Wolf, Nuclear Option, Inspiring Presence, Extra Powder, Arms Race, and Pyromaniac. He starts with very high stats in all but helm, with Weapons and Mechanical Engineering maxed (100).
