BlazBlue Entropy Effect – Jin Kisaragi Chaaracter Guide

Guide to Jin Kisaragi

Jin Kisaragi, the “Hero of Ikaruga” and definitely has an unhealthy obsession to his older brother Ragna (certified Ragnerd moment), Jin is a solid choice for those who want to have an easy time with the game, with some added complexity for those who loves to play with finess.

Jin’s Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Jin’s Time Stasis is the single most broken ability in the game by far. Makes dodging much easier, and makes the reward for dodging too good. Absolutely necessary when playing at 100 Entropy
  • Extremely good crowd control and AoE damage. Touga Hyoujin sheathed is a spammable, quick screen wipe
  • A variety of build paths to choose from for diversity and stylish combos. Mix and Match.
  • Gains SP ỉncredibly fast when facing multiple enemies
  • Rewards you with strong, fast moves with extreme huge ranges if you can get around his sheathing mechanic
  • You can be Hakumen (at home) with the new Block Build and buffs to it in recent patches
  • Doesn’t have the best DPS against bosses. Actually true to how he has low damage in the BlazBlue fighting games.
  • Quite MP hungry, which is also true to his Meter Hungry nature in the BlazBlue fighting games.
  • Some builds just don’t have the best time against opponents in the air (Crystal Moonstorm EX and Fubuki/ Sekkaijin)
  • Weak early game that needs a lot of potentials to get anything going (Specifically the second upgrade for Universal Enhancement 1 and Touga Hyoujin MP reduction for screen wipes in the early game)

Universal Enhancement 1 – The thing that seperates the normal Jin players to the really good ones.

“The offensive moves you make upon sheathing are upgraded”

After Jin attacks, he will sheathe is sword. Once he does, a flash will appear and once you attack with either the Universal Attack button or any Special, it’s enhanced, dealing more damage and having a bigger hitbox.

An indication to an enhanced attack would be the “mirage” that follows your moves and a “ting” sound.

As Jin sheathes after all of his moves, you can even link Specials into Enhanced Attacks.

It’s quite a muscle memory thingy. Practice around a bit to get the hang of the timing and once you have mastered it, you can perform it as second nature.

For me, the best move to practice enhancing your specials with would be the first jump attack. It’s far easier to time when you can enhance your moves, unlike the normal standing Attack as it has a longer animation to get Jin to sheathe.

An example Late Game Build for Jin would probably look like this

  • Triple Dash (mobility and dodge frames FTW)
  • Universal Enhancement 1 – All 3
  • Universal Enhancement 2 – All 3
  • Hyouten Danka – All 4
  • Touga Hyoujin – All 2 (for the early game clears as Hyouten Danka takes a bit to get going)
  • Rengoku Hyouya

As Hyouten Danka is a multi hitting Attack/ Skill, getting the Lightning Chain Attack and Cold Skill would be most optimal. This build allows Jin to charge and unleash his Judgement Cuts from afar. Having the ability to block for free is also really nice as it covers the lack of mobility you might face while charging.

Another good build against bosses would be Hiyoku Getsumei (aka Ice Arrow build). It’s quite a different beast.

  • Triple Dash (mobility and dodge frames FTW).
  • Universal Enhancement 1 – The 2nd and 3rd one (as the first one is kind of useless outside of a Hyouten Danka build).
  • Universal Enhancement 2 – All 3.
  • Hiyoku Getsumei – All 4.
  • Triple Jump (this is absolutely crucial to the build as it allows Jin to position himself to shoot his arrows downward, dealing massive damage to bosses like The Defiling Eye.
  • Rengoku Hyouya.
