Lines and Robots
How to use robotics?
Click on robot in Play mode and create order, by determining which parts are being ordered – those will be assembled by robot. Those work the same as storage, when transporter delivers the part – robot will start producing.
Don’t assume every line will be the same. Some lines, i have 8 robots for station 2 and only 1 robot for the remaining stations. Other assembly lines require 4 or 5 robots for half of the stations. This all depends on the car you are building. Configure your robot inventory based upon its capacity, not the car parts (in other words, don’t just go with the default value of 1 of each part).
Example
My “body” station has 8 robots, each configured to order 1 body part to max out that component. The next station may be set to order 36 sets of lights for one robot because the weight of the lights are little. This keeps the transporters from visiting the light station for quite sometime thus freeing up a transporter. The light station, I’ll set to a low reorder rate.
Other stations, such as suspension, I may need 4 robots to get an order of 8 but i may have to make those 4 robots order different suspension parts for a single station just to maximize the weight aspect. These stations, I’ll set to a high reorder rate to ensure they stay addressed often.
I have 80 transporters supporting 6 production lines of 65 stations in total with little issue other than FPS.
How to stop all orders but use existing parts until they’re out
You could try setting the order quantity to 0 and see if they build, I haven’t tried that yet. I know nothing gets built by either robots or mechanics if there isn’t an order for the station, even if there are enough parts. If that doesn’t work, edit the order to be 0 as the part is used so it doesn’t get restocked. I just sell the unused parts myself, not worth the time to me.
Bonus Tips
- Don’t rush research/technology.
- Set prices of the car on 200-300% – it is depended of how quickly you can make a cars, observe your parking you should balance it, less than 200% you will have to make to many cars to quickly and cost of workers will be to much.
- If you have problem with selling cars buy customers the coffee to make them 100% happy.
- Price does not affect how many customers you get, only the chance of sale… You only get more customers by advertising, when the car is on “trend” or as your brand popularity increases.
How to determine the optimal way to break up assembly among the stations?
Depends what you want to achieve: for fastest possible production, one step per station and as many robots as there are parts in each step. If you want to do manual production (without robots), it doesn’t really matter, you probably want to use equal amount of steps so each station is in use for the same amount of time. If you’re doing robots but want to keep the line short, you need to figure out how many steps of parts you can stock on the robots before they run out of capacity and then move to the next station.
