Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor – General Tips for Hazard 5

Just wanted to share a couple of tips that helped me reach a point where I can consistently clear Hazard 5.

Hazard 5: General Tips

Сrеdit gоеs to RADN3CTAR!

  1. Penetration is amazing (that’s what she said)

An obvious one but having a main weapon with some sort of penetration, either naturally like the M1000 or trough overclock, is a game changer.

  1. Freeze status

Probably the highest contributor to my inceased success rate on Hazard 5 was when I realized that you can move freely through frozen enemies without taking damage. Freeze “trivializes” hordes as you can just freeze a path out to safety.

  1. Supply Drops

In case you didn’t know, the Supply Drop impact one shots mini-bosses on every difficulty level. This is very useful for the first two layers as you can focus on mining the map and “simply” lure the mini-boss to the supply drop and end the layer with a swift blow to the head. [It also hits the Dreadnought for 50% of it’s health /wogitalia].

  1. Movement and mining upgrades

Even though movement and mining don’t make the damage numbers bigger they are the best upgrades IMO. I pick them up over everything else most of the time. Your mileage may vary depending on your playstyle.

Bonus Tips

Easiest tip is to use the Thunderhead Gunner and take cyro asap alongside it. It’s easily the most powerful weapon in the game, spam reload time on it because the overclock will take care of fire rate but really doesn’t matter because it’s that powerful.

Scout (all but 3rd is best) and Engineer (2nd only so far) can both also do it, I haven’t been able to do with a Driller yet. They’re all a lot more RNG based though, Engineer has to get all the plasma upgrades and some good weapon upgrades as well (both times I’ve beaten included multiple legendary upgrades). Scout is more just patience because it’s going to be a lot slower than the Gunner and his hand carried nuke.

Cyro is key also, you need the CC and the ability to create escape paths is very useful.

I find the critical chance/damage artefact is the only one that really makes a noticeable difference, if you’re already crazy fast the fire rate one can help but speed is vital. Gold/Nitra are useful and both the shields are also useful but none are vital to anything with the stronger classes. Be interesting to see if it’s possible with some of the other builds. Not looking forward to trying to get that Juggernaut achievement!
