Best Races: Which to Choose?
MA Ulm is very straight forward. The 8 different varieties of infantry seems intimidating, but the differences aren’t major when you are just learning against AI.
Beyond that you have Smiths, so Construction is an obvious first pick, which will lead into the basics of thugging…
On the whole though any Nation that just focuses on 1 magic path is probably good to start, because you can just try to maximize that one thing (for refrence MA Ulm mages are all Earth).
As you learn 1 you can branch out into others.
EA Hinnom or Yomi if you just want to equip big fighty dudes with magical gear.
MA Ermor is the micromanagement hell, but its easy to get back into, and you’ll probably figure out a reasonable bless for lictors/knights to have a plan B against priests spam.
MA Tien-Chi is still arguably the magic-est regular human faction with cheap access to multiple small paths and even easy to build and replace communes (all hail gifts from heaven).
