Driftwood – Tips to Control the Games

How to Control

Adjust the FOV, try a few settings and see what works for you. A narrower FOV will “slow” the game down but some corners may be difficult to read. A wide FOV will make corners easier to read but the game will ‘feel’ faster – a normal phenomena for FOV adjustments.

The board ratings are somewhat counter-intuitive. You want high grip wheels but low control boards for a less twitchy experience.

The more responsive boards can help you with some hair pin turns on Dolemites for example. The shoulder buttons should be used sparingly. Tap don’t hold. Slow into corners by holding back, tap and lean to bleed some speed and the corner will be defeated.

Holding the shoulder buttons has more specific use cases and as you get better with the game you’ll get used to when to hold versus tap.

Honestly, try a few complete runs not touching the shoulder buttons AT ALL, just slow yourself by pulling back and using the control stick. Combine some of my other tips and I think you’ll have better luck. The controls really are good, but there is a learning curve and the boards/wheels really matter.
