Guide to Value Bulletstorm

Introduction

This is the mastery you want to run if you want to the marine do comparable damage to Sniper scouts and Sharpshooter techs. Give it a try if just winning constantly with Onslaught and Survivor gets old and want to try something else for a chance.

Callisto

  1. Hellrunner.
  2. Hellrunner.
  3. Sustained Fire 1/Army Surplus 1.
  4. Sustained Fire 1/Army Surplus 1.
  5. Bulletstorm.

The first two levels of Hellrunner are good all around and will increase your survivability throughout the game. The order of Sustained Fire and Army Surplus doesn’t really matter but prioritize Army Surplus if you have a grenade launcher or using a .44 weapon primarily.

The only branches I can recommend are Rift or Mines because this build is heavily dependent on JS armor pieces. If you want to try pistol bulletstorm, take whichever of Rift or Mines comes first for more chances to get JS .44 revolvers.

Pistol Build

If you found two pistols (likely JS .44 revolvers) that you like, follow this build order.

  1. Son of a Gun (SoG).
  2. Son of a Gun.
  3. Gunslinger.
  4. Bulletstorm.
  5. Whizkid.
  6. Gunslinger.
  7. Gunslinger.
  8. Bulletstorm.
  9. Gunslinger.
  10. Hellrunner/Tough as Nails.
  11. Hellrunner/Tough as Nails/Covermaster.

I will be honest and say that I do not recommend pistol bulletstorm. It is much weaker than the auto-rifle version. The main problem is that you need to invest in Gunslinger 3, which leaves you with not many points to spend in defensive traits like the last level of Hellrunner and Tough as Nails 3. Regular medusa and archwarlocks will be troublesome unless you have strategies to mitigate the accuracy loss.

You can delay Gunslinger till level 9 because just one pistol should serve you fine until late Europa.

I highly recommend getting Whizkid at level 11 because you want to mod Extra Mag 4 (bulk) on your revolvers, and Crit Enhance 25 (power) on your helmet. Getting Acid Shield (power) on your armor is a bonus.

If for some reason you only have 1 piece of JS armor, you need to add Crit 10 (accuracy) on any one armor piece, and mod Calibrate 1 (accuracy) and Crit 25 (accuracy) on your plain revolvers.

Recommended branches do include the ones with the AV3 amp for the most used weapon type (Europa Ruins, Refueling Base/Pit, Shadow Halls, Io Black Site).

Recommended Gear Setup:

  • .44 revolvers: Extra Mag 4 (bulk), Calibrate 1 (accuracy), auto-calibrate and 1 wild card [AV1, cold, emp, vampiric, Critical 25 (accuracy) if you only got one JS armor piece].
  • Armor: Meshed (power), Acid Shield (power), Durable (bulk), and Swift (accuracy).
  • Helmet: Exit Scanner (power), Crit Enhance 25 (power), Durable (bulk). Crit 10 (accuracy) is needed if you only have one JS armor piece.

Rifle Build

  1. Whizkid.
  2. Son of a Gun.
  3. Son of a Gun.
  4. Bulletstorm.
  5. Son of a Gun.
  6. Tough as Nails
  7. Tough as Nails
  8. Bulletstorm.
  9. Tough as Nails.
  10. / 17. Hellrunner/Covermaster.

While autorifle bulletstorm doesn’t dishout damage like the pistol build, I find that it is much more consistent because instead of Gunslinger, you can put more points into defensive traits.

In Europa L2, you definitely want to have Whizkid available for Extra Mag 6, which allows your 7.62 rifle to shoot four bullets 6 times before needing to reload. You can get faster reloads from Speed-loader or Loading Feed. If you have to use an AV1 rifle from Europa L1, you want Loading Feed on armor so you can fit Extra Mag 6 (bulk), Calibrate 1 (accuracy) and auto-calibrate on the remaining three slots.

The Extra Mag 6 on the plasma rifle is essential since you can now fire the five bullets 3 times instead of twice with only 12 magazine size on the base plasma rifle.

Recommended branches are the ones with the AV3 amp for the most used weapon type (Europa Ruins, Refueling Base/Pit, Shadow Halls, Io Black Site).

Recommended Gear Setup:

  • 7.62 rifle: Extra Mag 6 (bulk), Calibrate 1 (accuracy), auto-calibrate and 1 wild card (AV1, cold, emp, vampiric).
  • Plasma rifle: Extra Mag 6 (bulk), auto-calibrate and 2 wild cards [cold, emp, vampiric, hallowed, Balanced 1 (accuracy) and Critical 25 (accuracy) if you only got one JS armor piece].
  • Armor: Meshed (power), Durable (bulk), Crit 10 (accuracy), and one of Acid Shield (power) or Loading-Feed (bulk). Note if you only have only got one JS armor piece, you dont need Crit 10 but instead put Balanced 1 (accuracy) and Critical 25 (accuracy) on your plain plasma rifle.
  • Helmet: Exit Scanner (power), Crit Enhance 25 (power), Durable (bulk), Crit 10 (accuracy).

Gameplay Tips

Remember to use adrenaline to clear the pain modifier and give high resistance to pain.

Ammo exhaustion will be a concern for the pistol build so put your pistols at slot 2 and 3 so you have the option to only use one pistol by selecting slot 3 to save ammo. Bulletstorm 3 will use one bullet to reload 3 magazines so slowdown and count your bullets to economize them.
