Don’t fill an abandoned building with items and then reclaim it, you loose those items.

Tips

Vehicles are a huge time saver, increasing storage per squad from their basic 4 to 4+10 to 20 spots, so search them out with armed squads ASAP.

Work 2 squads in tandem if it’s vehicles with a larger storage and keep using the swap inventory function on the 2nd squad so 1st squad keeps the car focus.

On the squad window, bottom left and button that looks like the Tab key icon, 2 horizontal parallel arrows going Left and Right, click the location or squad you want to swap items with.

A bit of micromanagement, but it works.

Use the swap function on the HQ or any building with storage, swap in or out medkits, ammo or weapons to and from the group.

Pull medkits from storage or squad inventory and drop on injured squad member picture (red marking that fills depending on injury level) to heal them.

Likewise with guns and ammo and drop them in the weapon slot to equip or reload, that way you can equip your squads with what you want (green level for ammo status, red weapon for empty).

Avoid having assault rifles on squad leader, because squad leaders drive cars and don’t usually shoot from the vehicle.

Manage your towers, gates and squads weapons according to the difficulty you’re on, on easy the bow and arrow option on Towers and gates are great ammo savers.

Spread your squads when defending the base, so you can go out and back again to lure hordes towards a more fortified position, hordes focuses people in the open, in cars then any building with priority to buildings that attack them.
