Mashiroiro Symphony HD: Love is Pure White – Ultimate English Guide (Walkthrough, Routes and Tips)

Definitive Guide

For those of you new to this game (probably most of you – this game was never available in English before, and supposedly only as a fan translation in Chinese, you’re probably wondering how this game works and how to get the route you want.

Well I am here to help. The route split is pretty simple, but can be misleading as the choices aren’t entirely obvious (I got an unexpected route when I first played through the game).

Route Guide

Here’s how it works

Get the patch. Without the official patch, you can’t do much of anything (there’s a patch for the base game and another for Sana edition.) You can get it from the publisher’s website; their Twitter also has a link to the patches.

To get to someone’s route, you need to activate their flag and select their option in the supermarket. If you don’t do this, then you will get Airi route by default.

Ange route

  • At the choice with Ange, choose “Thanks for inviting me into your room.”
  • At the supermarket, choose “Some tokoroten might be nice, once in a while.”

Sakuno route

  • At the choice with Sakuno, choose “It’s fun hanging out with you, Sakuno.”
  • At the supermarket, choose “I’m most interested in the menu for tonight.”

Miu route

  • At the choice with Miu, choose “I really want to help if I can.”
  • At the supermarket, choose “Something is drawing me toward the meat.”

Airi route

  • Choose one of the other choices at the 2-way choices with one of the girls above, and then at the supermarket, choose to accompany that same girl. In other words, don’t set the flag for that girl, and then choose her at the supermarket scene, and it will not go to their route and instead do Airi by default.

Sana route

Buy the Sana edition! That is a standalone game, and it actually contains the whole common route as well. The choices in that edition have no effect on progression (aside from a few lines of different dialogue per choice, but it’s the same as the base game) and it just goes down Sana route (which is actually Miu route for a while, and then Miu route branches off to Sana route automatically). Sana Edition gives you the option to skip the entire common route after the first day of the story, which the regular game does not, so probably better to do the regular game first unless you only want to do Sana.

Note that the game after the supermarket will be the same for all three girls for a while; the actual route split happens some time later (specifically, after exams end).

100% Complete Walkthrough

The easiest way to get 100% (all girls’ routes, all dialogue viewed, all CGs and movies) is to do the following:

  • Start a new game
  • Save at the first choice (SAVE 1)
  • [Airi route]
  • Choice 1: “I hope you find a master soon.”
  • Choice 2: “I’m sorry I can’t do anything to help.”
  • Choice 3: “Don’t say things like that when we’re with other people.”
  • Choice 4: [anything]
  • Airi route complete
  • Load SAVE 1
  • Choice 1: “Thanks for inviting me into your room.”
  • Choice 2: “I really want to help if I can.”
  • Choice 3: “It’s fun hanging out with you, Sakuno.”
  • Save at Choice 4, the supermarket choice (SAVE 2)
  • [Sakuno Route]
  • Choice 4: “I’m most interested in the menu for tonight.”
  • Sakuno route complete
  • [Miu route]
  • Load SAVE 2
  • Choice 4: “Something is drawing me toward the meat.”
  • Miu route complete
  • [Ange route]
  • Load SAVE 2
  • Choice 4: “Some tokoroten might be nice, once in a while.”
  • Ange route complete
  • [Sana route, optional]
  • Buy Sana edition
  • Start a new game in Sana edition
  • ???? (the choices don’t matter)
  • Profit

You can rearrange this however you want. Just keep in mind doing or not doing Airi route requires specific choices to be made in the earlier choices.

Note that some of the song numbers may appear to be missing in the base game and in Sana – that’s because some songs are specific to one game or the other. If you beat both games then, across the two games, you will have all songs and all song numbers (1 through 37) – unlocking the gallery gets you all the songs in that game immediately.

Completing all routes will also unlock the Sprite gallery, which lets you view and take pictures of the character sprites however you like. For Sana edition, of course only Sana route completion is necessary.

Which Route Should I Do First?

Honestly, all the routes are roughly similar length and are all good. Which one is best is subjective (for instance, some people love Airi route and some hate it). Go with the character you personally like best. Each route is a ton of fanservice for the character in question.

It’s worth noting though that of the base game routes, Miu route is likely the best-written. Storyline-wise, that one may be the best (it’s also quite a tearjerker, unlike the others).

Sana route is rather special. Of course, for one thing it requires the Sana Edition as a separate purchase. Also, unlike all the others, Sana route branches off of partway through Miu route (although there are no choices here: if you’re playing base game, then there is no Sana route option, and if you play Sana edition, it automatically goes to the Sana route). This is due to Sana route being added in the PSP release of the game, so it was wedged in post-facto. The PSP release did have a number of changed lines and extra scenes added though, so even when you play through the Miu route portion of Sana edition, you will notice some occasional differences from Miu route in the base game (mostly, new scenes involving Sana).

If you watched the anime, it covered some parts of all the routes (except Sana’s), but it focused on Miu route. While the anime was overall faithful to the source material, it did rearrange and substantially compress/remove a lot of content, so there will be plenty of new content no matter which route you choose (to say nothing of the H-scenes which are of course totally absent from the anime).

Advice and Warnings

Definitely get and install the patch files before starting the game at all. Not only do the patches add all the R18 content, but without them, the vast majority of the routes are missing, and a number of scenes from the common route are also cut out. Don’t dawdle on getting those installed.

The game has several useful features such as (obviously) a skip function, also a scene jump (using the buttons in the log) so you can go back to previous scenes or even before choices, and an option jump, which you can use to jump directly to the next or previous choice screen (this is disabled in Sana edition as there are no choices). Don’t overlook these!
