How to Farm Heroism for Maximum R&D

Farming Heroism can be a lengthy process, but there is a fast and consistent method for late-game progression. With the required equipment, you can reach the Heroism needed to unlock all development items in under three hours.

You need at least 115,000 Heroism for all items to become available for development.

Requirements

• Swimsuit or Bikini camouflage
• Fulton Launcher

Unlocking the Fulton Launcher

Complete the following Extra Ops in order to obtain the Fulton Launcher:

1. Extra Ops 45
2. Extra Ops 46
3. Extra Ops 102
4. Extra Ops 47
5. Extra Ops 48
6. Extra Ops 91
7. Extra Ops 37
8. Extra Ops 98

Unlocking Swimsuit or Trunks Camouflage

Obtain an S Rank on Extra Op 68. This mission is unlocked by completing Extra Op 119.

Heroism Farming Method

1. Load Extra Op 15.
2. Equip your soldier with the Swimsuit, Bikini, or Swimming Trunks camouflage. Do not use Snake.
3. Equip only the Fulton Launcher.
4. At the beginning of the mission, locate the soldier in the distance who looks different from the others. He is carrying a banana.
5. Shoot this soldier with the Fulton Launcher.
6. Immediately roll back into the goal to end the mission.
7. Repeat the mission.

This method provides approximately 80 Heroism every 6 to 8 seconds, which can amount to roughly 28,800 Heroism per hour once the process is performed consistently.

How to Beat the Strangelove Torture Sequence More Easily

The Strangelove torture sequence requires repeated input during the shock therapy section. On Steam, you can use the controller configuration to enable autofire for the required button.

Enabling Autofire

1. Open your Steam Library and select METAL GEAR SOLID: Peace Walker.
2. Open the game’s Controller Layout from its library page.
3. Select Edit Layout to view the controller bindings.
4. Find the button used for the interrogation sequence.
5. Select the cog icon next to that button.
6. Enable the Autofire option at the top of the settings.
7. Set the autofire value to 30 instead of the default value of 100.
8. If this value triggers autofire detection, lower the value further and try again.

You can create a separate controller layout specifically for the torture sequence, making it easier to switch to and from the autofire configuration.

How to Recruit Hideo Kojima

You can recruit Hideo Kojima during Main Ops Mission 09.

Recruitment Method

1. Start Main Ops Mission 09.
2. Progress through the mission until you reach the Goal.
3. Look at the trucks and find the license plate marked 63824.
4. Interact with the truck bearing this license plate to recruit Hideo Kojima.

After completing the mission, Hideo Kojima will be added to your staff.

He has high aptitude in the Medical Team and Intel Team. Assigning him to the Intel Team can be particularly useful because increasing Intel Team level provides additional mission information, including details such as enemy numbers and information relevant to vehicle boss battles.

How to Stealth: Close the Distance by Rolling

Rolling can be used to approach enemies quickly without generating the same footstep noise produced by running.

Running toward an enemy creates audible footsteps that can be detected from a considerable distance, while crouch-walking is slower. Rolling allows you to cover ground quickly without producing the same type of footstep noise.

Approaching an Enemy

1. Position yourself at a suitable distance from the enemy.
2. Roll toward the enemy to quickly close the gap.
3. Stop before the roll carries you directly into the enemy.
4. Once you reach their rear, aim a weapon at their back to force them into a surrender state or use CQC.

The distance must be judged carefully. Rolling directly into an enemy can alert them immediately.

How to Capture Tanks and Helicopters without Detection

Vehicle boss battles can be completed without killing enemies, being detected, or damaging the vehicle. The same general approach can be used for tank and helicopter missions, although the difficulty depends on how many Fulton extractions you have available for removing enemy reinforcements.

Stealth Strategy

The basic strategy is to remove the ordinary soldiers supporting the vehicle boss while keeping the boss itself unaware of your presence.

Smoke Grenades are useful for obscuring your position. You can also approach an enemy from behind and quickly aim a pistol at their back to force them to surrender.

The general process is:

1. Approach an ordinary enemy without alerting the vehicle boss.
2. Use a hold-up to force the enemy to surrender.
3. Fulton the surrendered enemy.
4. Repeat the process with the replacement reinforcements.
5. Continue until the enemy reinforcements are completely depleted.
6. Once no more reinforcements remain, the vehicle boss will expose their head.
7. Tranquilize the exposed pilot to complete the mission without detection, kills, or damage to the vehicle.

Enemy formations are predictable for each vehicle boss. Depending on the boss, removing one or four enemies with Fulton will cause replacements to appear elsewhere on the map.

Handling Reinforcements

New enemies may spawn in locations that put them close to you. If this happens, use a Smoke Grenade to obscure yourself while performing the Fulton extraction.

Alternatively, you can use a Love Box (Cardboard Box) and remain stationary. The enemy will generally ignore you and continue moving toward the vehicle as part of their normal formation.

The number of spare Fulton extractions you have available can significantly affect the difficulty of these missions, particularly during helicopter battles.
