Monster Never Cry – Gameplay FAQ

Beginners FAQ

What is the best rarity?

The order of Rarity for 5* Monsters is Epic, Legendary, and then Hellfire.  Ideally you will have a full hellfire team as legendary and especially epic monsters tend to underperform towards the late game. Refer to the Tierlist to choose your team, just because a Monster is considered “S tier” doesn’t mean it can’t rival “SSS Teir” Keep in mind that most hellfires are viable.

I just got a Shiny skin, does it do anything?

Shiny skins are rare variants of Monsters. The skin itself is unlocked upon rolling a shiny monster, which can happen at any time for any rarity. Shiny skins provide a stat and aptitude boost to the monster and their equipment.  Shiny skins can be equipped on any monster if unlocked.

Example is if I rolled a Shiny Zenobia and I already had a Zenobia, I can equip the shiny skin to Zenobia for the stat boost.  If you use the shiny variant as a material for Star Ups or Awakenings, the Non-shiny variant will inherit the Shiny status, giving it the [Shiny] tag.

What is aptitude?

Aptitude is a measurement of several stat parameters, being Attack, Defense, Health Points, and Crafting.  This can be as high as 10000 for Hellfires of the 3 main types, and as high as 11000 for Abyssal or Draconic monsters(I could be off by a few hundred).

Three of these aptitude values are straightforward, and the 4th, Crafting, simply increases the crafting rate of the Craft Shop, and isn’t that important.  Whenever using a monster of the same kind the highest aptitude value between each of these 4 is inherited. Please be aware aptitude should not be compared between different monsters to determine which is better. Go off of the stat values instead.

What do I spend Gems on?

Never spend gems on the regular gem gacha, you’ll run out of them quickly this way. Spend Gems on Dark Expedition, this grants an extra 2 hours of AFK rewards per use. In the Daily Shop, get the free “Scroll of Guidance” and “Venomous Snake Fang.” Get the 25 gem Evo Egg coin and if you have gems to spare get the Devil Cores as well. From there use your own judgment and current needs to determine if you need the Evo Stones or Summon Scroll.

In the Lucky Shop there can be Evo Egg Coins and Devil Cores for a discounted price, get these as well. Evo Stones can also be bought here if you need them and don’t want to wait for afk rewards or gacha rewards for them. Later on you’ll see awakening materials such as pearls, get these if you have spare gems and an awakened monster. In the Void Exploration area, tap the plus icon next to the dice counter. spend the max amount of gems here (90 a day iirc).

This will push you a bit farther in this part of the game. You will encounter Mystery Chest events in this area, they can contain several discounted items as well, treat it similarly to the Lucky Shop for what you can buy. You can spend more gems in the Greedy Cave area if there is an event calling for Greedy Cave uses, do that when there’s an event present.

Events may also contain a gem shop. Rewards in here varies, but if you have an Abyssal or Draconic monster, ALWAYS get the 5* Chaotic Doll for 6000 gems. Pact summon events may also appear, use your own judgment on whether you want the monster(s) that can appear here.

Throne Hall

There are 3 different paths you can choose whenever you hit the “level limit” in the throne hall: Attack, Health Points, or Haste(Attack Speed). Player opinion varies and it’s not absolutely clear which is better. Don’t feel bad about making a choice.

Treasure Hunt

In the Magic Summon tab, always use 8 scrolls at a time, Ideally wait until there is either a Devil Core or Legendary Egg Shards. In the Forbidden Summon tab, wait until the center reward is for a hellfire you want or need. This can be abyssal/draconic as well. There is no difference between doing 1 at a time or 10 at a time on this tab

Star Ups

You will need 9* and even 10* versions of monsters as a material for your lineup later, if you keep getting a copy of a specific Monster, it’s not a bad idea to hold on to 4/6 copies for 9* and 10* respectively. In order to go up to 10* stars, you’ll need at least 2 9*s, for 11* you’ll need a total of 3 10* Monsters, and it increases as you go up, this just means you need to Star up your team somewhat evenly to continue progressing. 13 Stars is the Maximum number of stars.

Once you hit 10 stars, you unlock awakening, which gives stat boosts, buffs, and upgraded versions of skills.  Many hellfires become immensely more powerful at awakening level 5 onwards.

Sacrificing

Player opinion may vary. You can freely sacrifice 3* monsters without hindering your progress much at all 4* monsters should never be sacrificed, star them up to 5* before doing so. If you have an excessive amount of 5* monsters you may sacrifice them to get more evogems.

Do so in this order Elite>Epic>Legendary>Hellfire, sacrificing Hellfires is not recommended. Sacrifice grants evogems, where 6000 can be spent to get Avanzo, SynderHelden, Octasia, and Lilith. 4k can be spent to get other Hellfires of the 3 main types. Never spend evogems on the legendary eggs.

Runes and Glyphs

Runes provide a stat bonus to attack and hp, 5 of a kind for a rune can be forged into a new one, each rune slot is unlocked with level 100 and 7* respectively. Higher grade runes can have different perks, which can be reforged to reroll the perks.

Glyphs (unlocked later) are similar to runes where they provide the same kinds of perks, but can be merged with 4 of a kind. They do not provide a regular stat bonus. The perks are graded based on Normal, Potent, and Rare. Some of the potent ones are actually pretty good, so don’t overlook them based on tier. It is currently being looked into for what perks stack.

Fossil Eggs

Personal tip, only try to hatch legendary eggs until you get level 30 yggdrasil, which may take a while. Eggs have a base chance to be a higher tier.

  • Legendary 10% Shiny
  • Elite 1% 5 Star
  • Basic 1% Elite

The +x in the top right refers to a boosted percentage to the above At level 30 Yggdrasil you unlock egg synthesis where 4 basic eggs can become elite, and 9 elite eggs can be legendary

Gem Gacha

There is absolutely no point in holding onto Evo Gem Coins unless you’re hoping for a new monster to be released and put into the Gem Gatcha pool. Never spend gems on the gem gacha directly!

There is an 83% chance for basic monsters, 11% chance for elite monsters, and 6% chance for 5 Star monsters Every 50 Gem gacha pulls grant an epic summon, which is a guaranteed 5 Star Monster There is an achievement for rolling 4 5 Stars in 10 consecutive draws, the chances of this happening is ~.21% per 10 draws.

Gold Rooms

Gold rooms are going to be incredibly important for progression, as they are your source of Gold, which is used to gain the majority of your Mana, as well as the chance for rare rewards like eggs, gems, evo gem coins, and even devil cores.

Always try to have them upgraded as much as possible. Once you unlock another gold room of the same type, like Natural and Natural, building them next to each other grants a Star Up, which increases the size of the room, adds another monster slot, and gives a gold bonus.

It’s not bad if you preemptively get 9 star monsters to use as fodder, and put them in gold rooms to gain a bit more gold over time.

Crafting

The Craft Workshop is a small feature where you consume materials to get the currency for crafting.  Just slap whatever hero has the highest crafting aptitude here after you have maxed your gold room efficiency. If you have gems to spare, buying the venomous fangs in the daily shop as well as the speedup scrolls is a good idea.

In the Craft shop, buy the speedup scrolls there every week, it’s absolutely worth it since you can’t normally spend every crafting material you buy with time alone.  The only other thing you should normally buy here is the trio egg, or if you’re swimming in the currency, the mythic evosoul shards

Experience Points

90% of your exp is going to come from the AFK rewards.  Spend gems on Dark Expeditions every day to add effectively 2 hours of rewards per expedition.

You also gain some exp from gold room rank ups, but it’s negligible. Many will complain about a level wall, but take it slow, the wall isn’t going anywhere.  Despite what the game seems to say, abyssal expedition does not grant any exp.  Use the Dark Expedition when you hit a wall to maximize the exp you gain from them.

Synergy

Synergy is a stat bonus that appears when you run multiple monsters of the same type, since it’s easier to look at the chart then explain every value.

Synergy bonuses will stack aside from the rainbow bonus, which does not receive the draconic or hellfire bonus.
