Outerstellar – Beginners Tips (Playtest)

Here is a quick guide to help you along your way (not necessarily in this order).

Guide for New Players

  • The ocean plants are lethal so try and avoid them!
  • Mine the carbon nodes to build your first base! The carbon nodes are black looking rocks with blue streaks.
  • Harvest plants and put them in the recycler!
  • Research better bladed weapons to harvest plants and canisters quicker.
  • Knives can be used very early on to mine small amounts carbon but are best used for plants.
  • Find enough carbon to build a small pickaxe as quick as you can.
  • Use the builder tool to create your base.
  • Create a builder controller to stop you base from decaying.
  • Build a research bench to unlock the tech tree. The first thing to unlock is solar power.
  • Build solar or wind power as soon as you can.
  • Lock your door.
  • Place a spawn pod
  • You can find parts for items in canisters. Discover the loot in your area.
  • Build a recycler to recycle plants and items.
  • The large public T2 recyclers return more loot than your base recycler.
  • Upgrade your base to T2 as quick as you can. T0 bases are vulnerable to fire.
  • Crude Aura can be loaded into a flamethrower for early raiding.
  • Crude Aura can also be refined into pure Aura for much stronger raiding tech in the later stages of the game.
  • Research suits and weapons to make your PvP and survival chances greater
  • Collect decoders, discover what is behind the coloured doors.
  • Build a harvester because it’s simply awesome.
