Quick Guide to Basics with Tips
Game Mode
Core game mode operates on classic Bomb Defusal rules:
- Teams compete in a series of rounds, with each team fighting to reach 8 rounds won before their opponents.
- All matches are a maximum of 14 rounds long and casual matches will end in a tie if both teams win 7 rounds.
- After 7 rounds have been played, teams swap sides. Attackers become Defenders and vice versa.
- Each rounds starts with a 40 second long Buy Phase where both teams can purchase weapons, armor, and abilities.
- During Buy Phase you can press [M] to open your map and quickly reposition yourself around the map with left and right click.
- After Buy Phase concludes, the round will begin with a timer counting down 120 seconds.
One team plays as the Attackers and start with a special device called the ZEUS.
Attackers can win rounds in two ways:
- Eliminate all enemy players before the round timer runs out.
- Carry the ZEUS to one of the areas labeled A-Site or B-Site on the map, plant the ZEUS on the site, and protect the ZEUS from the Defenders for 50 seconds.
The other team plays as the Defenders and fight to prevent the Attackers from detonating the ZEUS.
Defenders can win rounds in three ways:
- Eliminate all enemy players before the round timer runs out.
- Prevent the Attackers from planting the ZEUS on A-Site or B-Site before the round timer runs out.
- Defusing the ZEUS after it’s been planted on a site. Defusing takes 7 seconds and defuse progress is saved at the halfway point.
Duality
In Spectre, every player begins each round with two bodies instead of one:
- During gameplay you’ll control one of your bodies which is active. Your body which isn’t currently active is referred as your Spectre.
- Your Spectre remains crouched in place, and by pressing [X] you can instantly swap your consciousness into that body to actively control it. There is no cooldown on how often you can swap bodies.
- If you die, you’ll automatically take control of your other body after a short delay.
- To move your Spectre, you can press [V] to take out a device known as your Puck which can be thrown to recall your Spectre to the landing spot. If you die while recalling your Spectre, the recall will be cancelled and you’ll take control of your Spectre at its last location.
- Your Spectre can automatically sense when enemies are running or jumping nearby. This will trigger an on-screen alert known as a Spectre Warning. Enemies will not set off Spectre Warnings if they’re walking, aiming down sights, or carefully vaulting.
- Each map contains areas and shortcuts that can only be accessed by throwing your puck – get creative!
- Every one of resources has at least one ability that ties into the Duality Mechanic.

Note: Both teams start the half with a Loss for the Loss Streak calculation.
Gunplay
- In general, Spectre prioritizes aim-down-sights (ADS) versus hipfire. All weapons besides Sniper Rifles can be shot accurately from ADS while moving, so holding right click often is a good call.
- Most guns feature two different zoom levels. You can adjust this at any time by pressing [5]. This keybind can be rebound in the settings.
- Our Mouse Sensitivity setting is effectively 1:1 with VALORANT if you need a reference point for converting your sensitivity.
- In Spectre, all weapons are bought in pairs with two unique guns. Weapon Pairs are sorted into Tiers based on their price and general power. Tiers 4 & 5 are considered full buys.
- In the buy menu, you can right click a Weapon Pair to Request it. This gives your teammates a chance to purchase one half or all of the pair for you.

Weapon Accuracy
Aim Down Sights / Hipfire
Spectre Divide features Aim Down Sights gunplay that allows you to shoot with full accuracy, even while moving.
The center dot tells you exactly where your next shot will land.
Hip-fire is only effective at close range when spraying and at medium range when tap-firing. The gap in the center of the hip-fire crosshair represents the possible area for your next shot.
That concludes the guide, hope you found it helpful!
