Exploits

In Stronghold Crusader, there are some strategies and techniques that players may consider as “exploits” because they provide advantages or shortcuts.

  1. Food Production Overflow: In some versions of the game, it’s possible to set food rations to “double” in the granary temporarily, which causes a brief surplus of food that attracts more peasants. After the additional peasants arrive, you can reduce the food rations back to “normal.” This can quickly boost your population but may be considered an exploit by some players.
  2. Infinite Resource Gathering: Some players have discovered ways to manipulate resource gathering structures like quarries and iron mines to produce resources indefinitely. These methods often involve removing and rebuilding the resource-generating structures repeatedly to reset their resource counts.
  3. Fast Troop Production: By setting rally points effectively and utilizing a large number of barracks or other troop-producing buildings, you can produce troops quickly. This is more of a strategy than an exploit, but it can give you an advantage over opponents who don’t optimize their troop production.
  4. Castle Placement Exploits: Some players have found specific locations on the map where you can place your castle to gain a defensive advantage or make it difficult for AI opponents to attack you effectively.
  5. Recruiting Enemy Units: In some situations, you can use the “ransom” option to capture enemy units and then recruit them into your own army. This can be a way to gain strong units without the cost of training them.
  6. Resource Denial: You can sometimes block your opponents’ access to critical resources, like wood or stone, by strategically placing your buildings or walls. This can cripple their economy and make it easier to defeat them.
