Frequently Asked Questions
How to survive early game
Are you AP buffering? If I can move to a new location for, say, 12 AP, that means I can afford to arrive there with my 8 remaining AP (since max is 20). If I have significantly less AP then 20 when at the location teleporter, Ill end my turn to carry over the AP. Remember to spend some AP so that no AP is wasted on carry-over. You can hover your AP status bar on the bottom left to see how much you’ll gain next turn. Read a few pages of book, dismantle, or craft a little to burn excess AP.
If you find that the cost to travel is excessively high (close to 20) this will usually be because of high encumbrance and weight, and/or snow (unavoidable). I tend to hoard too much so I should be taking my own advice here but consider carrying less if you dont have the bags and strength to bear the movement penalties.
In the early game you should be able to arrive at every new location with at least 6-8 AP using these tips. It will get progressively harder when the snow debuffs kick in (and you’ll just generally have more tools/items to carry).
Struggling to not freeze to death
- There’s a skill that gives cold resistance. You can try to find it in libraries.
- Sweaters give the most cold resistance (low encumbrance means more sweaters).
- Have threads and needles for keeping clothes repaired.
- Fortified houses can improve your clothes for 10 points and give a permanent boost to temperature.
- If you have a vehicle and easy access to a gas station, use fuel in campfires for quick heat.
- Furthermore, when the generator at gas station (or homes) is on, the temperature inside the building increases significantly.
Vehicles
- No books for fuel efficiency, only the driver character can boost it. If I can recall correctly there are cars that travel at 0,3 per point.
- Besides that, you can also get a slight improvement asking for shortcuts at fortified houses.
- They are limited, so, you can get all shortcuts in all houses eventually for a permanent boost to your map.
How to earn more experience
You can get a lot of xp from killing zombies.
I suppose you could roll a Soldier and just farm Dangerous Places.
Also you can doing quests for fortified houses.
What is the relation between run score and profile exp
The more score, the more experience.
What do shortcuts do?
Save fuel and AP when walking.
Arrows
Crafting good arrows is not cheap and the accuracy of bows, crossbow and slingshot is bad. You need a lot of arrows to actually hit something.
Only longbow is usable to extent as it get accuracy buff from dex and str, but you need to have them high to begin with.
