Any and everything that would make another adventurers’ life a bit better!
Tips and Tricks
- The grapple hook can be used on enemies. Do your best Scorpion impression!
- Some enemies are too strong to be pulled by the grapple hook when they’re ready. Try doing it when they’re ragdolled instead.
- A lot of spells (at least in the Cryomancy tree) don’t use mana, but instead are on a cooldown. So don’t feel overwhelmed to invest in mana to be a mage.
- The ‘z’ key brings up a radial menu. The button on the upper left toggles between assigning items and using them. Beware that the OPPOSITE happens from what is displayed (working as designed) So when the button says “use item” you’re actually assigning them. Consumables like potions and food will be used, items like weapons will be equipped.
- The ‘x’ key allows you to duck and hide.
- The ‘c’ key toggles slow motion. It drains stamina and doesn’t stop until you toggle it back off.
- Holding ‘left alt’ brings up a hotkey menu. I have no idea how to use it. Items you assign with the ‘z’ key populate the hotkeys, and you can use ‘left alt’ to use them faster than the wheel menu.
- Holding ‘caps lock’ brings up a second hotkey menu. I also have no idea how to use it.
- You can study runes/spells in the library under the bedroom you spawn in. It will give you exp in either Cryomancy or Pyromancy. You do this by talking to the NPC with an exclamation mark over their head, asking them to help you study, then taking a book from the shelves with the ‘e’ key (red is pyro, blue is cryo) and placing them on the desk next to the npc, and finally sitting in the chair to study.
- If a menu comes up and your cursor isn’t there to select and option, you need only open a different menu that let’s you use a cursor. You can use THAT cursor to select the options from the first menu.
- Fishing seems to be one successful fishing session per spot until you leave the area and come back, even though the option to fish is still on your HUD. But, if you fail you can retry immediately.
- The trees you can cut for materials glow and sparkle like dropped items or ore do. You have to find these specific trees and walk up to them then press ‘e’ to chop them down.
- There are digging machines out in the wild that look like a big face with a tray in front of it. Find the 3 nearby gears to power it on and get resources.
- You can speed up time on the overworld map by pressing ‘space’. Useful when you need to be somewhere at a certain time.
- You can use the number keys to select dialogue options. Only keys 1-4 seem to work atm. The spacebar skips/progresses dialogue.
- Enemies spawn in frequently, don’t linger!
- While holding block (right mouse button) you can dodge short distances by pressing WASD + ‘Space’.
- You can parry enemies’ attacks by holding block and then left clicking. You don’t need to aim for the exact moment the enemy is hitting you, you can get them while they’re winding up for the attack.
- You can access Third Person with the ‘comma key’ but the game isn’t yet designed to work with it. So no complaints!
- Your stamina doesn’t regenerate while you block.
- You can close an open container’s inventory by holding the ‘e’ key and moving away.
- ‘U’ key is for quicksaving* (at least it seems to be since “saving” shows up on the screen when you press it.
- When you die, the last save is loaded. You seem to keep your exp but items/spells you’ve picked up are lost.
- If you’re having a hard time assigning powers to your hotbar from the right hand page, move your cursor around until you get the tooltip from hovering over the skill. This usually takes place on the far right side of the book, but it can be anywhere. Once you get the tooltip, then hold left click to drag it to the bar (this game is Early Access so these things happen).
- Experience for 2-handed weapons isn’t in the game yet, so don’t use them if you’re afraid of missing out on passive exp that reduces stamina cost for swinging weapons.
- Cryomancy doesn’t gain exp from usage for now. You can still level it up by reading.
