What Jobs Are Useful For

First, let’s get something out of the way, most of the jobs in this game are terrible. On a standard $20/hour region, only 3 jobs pay more than $100/hour. That’s awful, even running a grocery store pays better than being a doctor.

Jobs are mainly useful for two things:

1. A launchpad to more lucrative things (saving money for investments and saving money on educational expenses).
2. There’s an achievement for winning without making any investments. For this, I recommend starting with a high-paying job (probably a Resources foreman or Heavy Industry district head) and frequently depositing your money in the 6% annual savings account.

Rank 1 Entry-Level Jobs

Most of the game you’ll have a job, it’ll probably be a rank 1 or rank 2 job. Unless you’re going for the achievement I do not recommend wasting your time working up to a rank 3 job. You want to move your time from low-paying jobs into higher-paying medium-sized businesses as quickly as possible.

Rank 1 entry-level jobs range from $8-33 per hour and from $1,325 – $5,925 per month (on a $20/hour region). If you see yourself mainly playing at rank 1, the best options are as a Worker in resources, light industry or heavy industry. If you’re looking for a bit more free time, college professor is also pretty good.

Rank 2 Intermediate Jobs

Tier 2 mid-level jobs range from $23-62 per hour and from $3,525 to $9,925 per month. For most of the game, you will have better business options than $60/hour, but these are an okay short-term option to produce enough money to set up businesses and real estate. Your best options in rank 2 jobs are a foreman in resources/light industry/heavy industry. If you need more free time, college department head is still your best alternative.

Rank 3 Senior Jobs

Senior jobs range from $62-122 per hour and from $8,325 to $17,045 per month. I don’t recommend spending much time in a senior job unless you’re going for the no-investment achievement. By the time you’ve gotten a job that pays $122/hour, you probably have (or soon will have) significantly better options in medium businesses.
