Nicole and her mother fled the family hotel ten years ago after learning of her father Leonard’s romance with, and conception of, Rachel, a girl her age who later committed herself. Nicole aspires to carry out her mother’s last will and testament by selling the hotel and making amends with Rachel’s relatives now that both of her parents have died away. She returns to the hotel with the family’s lawyer to see the deteriorating edifice, determined to put that chapter behind her.
