Manor Lords – Guide to Population and Satisfaction System

The lack of core tutorials in the city-building and colony management genre has caught our eye and we decided to prepare different guide content for you until the game is released. In this guide, we will explain how you can increase the population by meeting the needs of your village and how to act as one with other regions while doing so.

Population Growth and Satisfaction System

When playing Manor Lords, you may find that the population of your city rises very slowly at the beginning. There will be certain reasons for this. The first one is that you don’t know what your people will think of you if they don’t know what kind of king you are and don’t know you. Sometimes there are not enough inhabitants in your village and settlers are not coming because there is no place to live.

Manor Lords population growth is directly related to the satisfaction level of your people. The more satisfied your people are with you, the higher your population growth rate will be. According to unofficial information, the effect of satisfaction on population growth is indicated in the table below:

Satisfaction Rate Monthly Population Change

  • 75-100% +2 Families (6 Villagers)
  • 50-74% +1 Family (3 Villagers)
  • 25-49% 0 Family
  • 0-24% -1 Family (-3 Villagers)

So, if the population of your city is not increasing at all, the satisfaction rate is probably between 25-49%. Therefore, in order to increase the population, you need to increase the satisfaction rate. Let’s take a look at how the Manor Lords satisfaction system works.

What You Can Do to Increase Satisfaction

The satisfaction of your people in Manor Lords depends on many factors. The easiest way to find out is to check the needs of the fief estates you build. When you hover over the houses where your citizens live, you will see what these houses need to thrive. For the lowest level fiefdoms, “Water Access” and “Faith Level” are of great importance. Building a “Wooden Church” and a “Well” will be enough to increase the satisfaction in your starting village in the first place. At the same time, everything below will help to increase satisfaction and therefore population.

  • Build a well: Wells can provide your citizens with drinking water and can also be used to extinguish possible fires.
  • Build a Wooden Church: A Wooden Church directly contributes to satisfaction and increases the “Faith Level” by a certain percentage. It also prevents your people from being badly affected by collecting dead bodies in your city after a raid.
  • Have at least two sources of food: As important as it is to feed your people, it is also important to provide them with different types of food. The variety of food sold in your city’s markets has a direct impact on satisfaction. Therefore, try to stock at least two food sources at the same time.
  • Create a Market Place: In order for your people to sell the resources from their production buildings, you need to create Marketplaces in areas close to the Fief Lands. This will increase access to resources for nearby houses.
  • Build a Lumberjack’s Hut: In Manor Lords, supplying fuel is as important as food for population growth. A Lumberjack’s Hut will cut down the surrounding trees to produce firewood for your citizens. This increases satisfaction.
  • Build a Tannery: The Tannery converts the Hide resource produced in the Hunter’s Camp into a Leather resource. The leather is sold in Marketplace areas that you can place close to homes, and when it is sold, the “Market Supply of Clothing” increases. Hence, satisfaction also increases.

Managing Territories and Sharing Resources is Very Important

As your Manor Lords adventure progresses, you will enter a system where you can dominate over multiple regions. You can claim the lands of a rival lord on the map and unlock new territories by fighting their armies if they oppose you. Afterwards, you have the option to send your settlers there and start building a civilization from scratch, just like in your first region.

Since each region has its own rich reserves, it is not possible to develop your village with the same strategy in every region. However, in an equation where you share the surplus resources of other regions, you have the chance to create a balanced ecosystem. For this, you need to have a “Resource Zone” in each of your regions. Thanks to this building, you can exchange materials between your regions with your merchants. For example, if you have a region with strong mineral reserves, but there are also food problems, you can send food from a region with rich food reserves and exchange iron or clay. This increases the importance of both managing your own regions and trading between them as you progress through the game.

When you build the “Resource Area” building, you need to assign a family of 3 people to it. At the same time, since these three people will be constantly traveling between regions, they will also need animals. We recommend placing a “Small Barn” near these areas and buying two mules per area. In this way, your villagers will be able to trade more efficiently and deliver more resources at once by transporting cargo to other areas with mules.

Conclusion

As a result, this is all I have to share with you in our Manor Lords population increase and territory management guide. I hope this content has been useful for you and that you enjoy playing Manor Lords more. Have a good game everyone!
